These Saloks also connect deeply with the unmatched courage and sacrifice of the Shaheeds who stood alongside Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. Salok Mahalla 9 - Week 15 - Truth beyond the illusion
In this episode of our Salok Mahalla 9 series, we explore Saloks 46 to 49, where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji reveals how to see truth beyond the illusion of the world. Guru Ji explains that we often become caught in a web of temporary pleasures, relationships, and achievements. These feel solid and permanent, yet they fade just like a dream. When the mind attaches itself to what is temporary, it loses sight of the deeper truth that leads to peace. Through these Saloks, Guru Ji encourages us to look beyond surface appearances and recognise the Divine reality that underpins everything. By remembering Vaheguru and living with awareness, we begin to see what is lasting and what is passing. This clarity frees us from confusion, fear, and constant chasing. These teachings invite us to step back from illusion, reconnect with truth, and walk a path guided by wisdom, humility, and spiritual focus. ✨ Watch, reflect, and let this vichar inspire your own Sikhi journey. 🙏 Please like, share, and subscribe to support more talks like this.

Salok Mahalla 9 - Week 14 - Conquer the world with love, not ego
In this episode of our Salok Mahalla 9 series, we explore Saloks 42 to 45, where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji redefines what it truly means to conquer the world. Guru Ji explains that real victory is not about ruling lands or gathering followers, but about mastering the mind. The one who controls anger, ego, desire, and greed has achieved a triumph greater than any worldly conquest. Such a person lives in peace, guided by Naam and untouched by the chaos of the world. Through these Saloks, Guru Ji reminds us that every external battle begins within. When the mind is disciplined and anchored in remembrance of Vaheguru, no obstacle can overpower it. True conquest is not domination but self-realisation. These teachings encourage us to turn our focus inward, to wage the battle against ignorance and illusion, and to rise victorious through humility, discipline, and spiritual awareness. ✨ Watch, reflect, and let this vichar inspire your own Sikhi journey. 🙏 Please like, share, and subscribe to support more talks like this.

Salok Mahalla 9 - Week 13 - Lost in Prosperity
In this episode of our Salok Mahalla 9 series, we explore Saloks 38 to 41, where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji reflects on the fragility of worldly prosperity and success. Guru Ji explains that wealth, power, and comfort can vanish in an instant. What we often see as permanent is, in truth, temporary and unreliable. The more we cling to material prosperity, the deeper our suffering becomes when it fades away. Through these Saloks, Guru Ji reminds us that real prosperity is not measured by possessions or status, but by spiritual contentment and connection with Vaheguru. When the mind is centred on Naam, even loss feels light, and the heart remains steady. These teachings invite us to reflect on what we truly value and to shift our sense of success from the fleeting to the eternal. True richness lies not in what we own, but in the peace we cultivate through remembrance and humility. ✨ Watch, reflect, and let this vichar inspire your own Sikhi journey. 🙏 Please like, share, and subscribe to support more talks like this.

Salok Mahalla 9 - Week 11 - Who is my true friend
In this episode of our Salok Mahalla 9 series, we explore Saloks 30 to 33, where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji asks us to reflect deeply on a timeless question — Who is my true friend? Guru Ji explains that when life is comfortable, we are surrounded by many who claim closeness, but when challenges arise, most disappear. True friendship, Guru Ji teaches, is not found in those who flatter or fulfil our worldly desires, but in those who guide us towards truth, virtue, and remembrance of Vaheguru. Through these Saloks, we are reminded that the greatest friend of all is the Divine — constant, compassionate, and unchanging. Those who help us walk the path of Naam and truth are reflections of that Divine friendship in human form. These verses invite us to re-examine our relationships, to cherish those that uplift the soul, and to recognise Vaheguru as the one companion who never leaves our side. ✨ Watch, reflect, and let this vichar inspire your own Sikhi journey. 🙏 Please like, share, and subscribe to support more talks like this.

How can we become more virtuous - Pauri 7 | Japji Sahib Katha in English
Pauri 7 reminds us that even if you lived for ages, earned fame, and were known across the world, it means nothing without Divine grace. Worldly status and praise fade, and blaming others only drags you lower. The Divine blesses both the virtue-less and the virtuous, and no one can truly describe the greatness of that Giver. Everything comes through grace, not ego. This katha series is in collaboration with Sikhs In Leeds and Basics Of Sikhi. Unlocking the treasures within our mind - Pauri 6 | Japji Sahib Katha in English
In this pauri, Guru Nanak Dev Ji reminds us that outward rituals, like bathing at sacred shrines, hold no value without alignment to the Divine Will. Merely performing acts without inner connection achieves nothing. The entire creation may be marvellous to behold, but without righteous actions, one gains no true reward. The mind itself holds priceless jewels — wisdom, virtues, and understanding — unlocked through the Guru’s teachings. It’s through the Guru that we grasp the realisation of the One, the eternal source behind all existence. Above all, there’s only one Giver who sustains every being, and we must never let remembrance of that One fade from our hearts. How to serve Vaheguru Ji - Pauri 5 | Japji Sahib Katha in English
In this pauri, the eternal Divine is described as beyond creation and installation, self-existent and pure, honouring those who serve with love and devotion. Guru Nanak Dev Ji reminds us of the boundless virtues of this supreme entity, emphasising that through singing, listening, and keeping love in one’s heart, sorrow departs and peace enters. The Guru’s wisdom is the key to unlocking the ultimate truth, revealing the Divine’s presence in all forms and guiding devotees towards unity with the eternal. How to experience Vaheguru Ji's Love - Pauri 4 | Japji Sahib Katha in English
In this pauri, Guru Nanak Dev Ji describes how countless beings constantly ask and pray for blessings from the Divine, who is the eternal Giver and fulfiller of needs. People request material comforts, power, honour, and salvation, but only those who accept the Hukam (Divine Will) and remain content in it find true spiritual peace. Guru Ji reminds us that Parmatma’s giving never stops, while the desires of beings are endless, and true wisdom lies in embracing contentment and understanding the Creator’s Will. Praising the Divine at the Ambrosial hours, Amritvela, is how we can truly experience God's grace. This katha series is in collaboration with Sikhs In Leeds and Basics Of Sikhi. Experiencing God In Everyday Life - Pauri 3 | Japji Sahib Katha in English
In this Katha Bhai Charndeep Singh covers Pauri 3 of Japji Sahib emphasising the infinite greatness of the Divine and the countless ways people attempt to praise and understand it. Guru Nanak Dev Ji highlights that no matter how many prayers or praises are offered, the true essence of the Divine remains beyond human comprehension. He encourages us to sing the praises of the Creator with love and devotion, as this is the most profound way to connect with the Divine. The pauri also reflects on the boundless generosity of the Divine, which continues to give without ever tiring, while humans, consumed by worldly desires, grow weary of receiving. Ultimately, Guru Nanak Dev Ji reminds us that walking the spiritual path and experiencing the benevolence of the Divine is a gift granted by the Command (Hukam) of the Creator. Pre-ordained Destiny or Free-Will? - Pauri 2 | Japji Sahib Katha in English
This is one of the most common spiritual questions that is asked and can be challenging to understand. In this Katha video, Bhai Charndeep Singh attempts to answer this question as part of the translation of the 2nd pauri (stanza) of Sri Japji Sahib. In this pauri, Guru Nanak Dev Ji teaches us that everything has been created by God's will and everything happens with within Their command. How Do We Achieve Oneness? - Pauri 1 | Japji Sahib Katha in English | Week 4
In this Katha video, Bhai Charndeep Singh explores the translation and spiritual meanings of the first pauri (stanza) in Sri Japji Sahib. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the 1st Sikh Guru, explain to us in this pauri how true realisation of Vaheguru cannot be achieved by performing rituals or prolonging spiritual practices. The only way to attain this is through complete acceptance of Hukam. This was recorded on 27th January 2024, Baba Deep Singh Ji's janam dihara (birthday) which is why there is reference to Baba Deep Singh Ji during the katha. The Greatness of Japji Sahib | Japji Sahib Katha in English
Ever wondered why is Sri Japji Sahib so highly regarded in Sikhi? In this katha, we explore the greatness of this amazing bani (prayer) by going through the history of Sri Japji Sahib, the Mool Mantar, and the role that Bhai Lehna Ji played in the composition of this bani. We will also discuss how powerful and incredible Sri Japji Sahib is through many historical accounts, known as Sakhis. Sri Japji Sahib is the first bani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, delivered to us by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This bani gives us Braham Gyan, spiritual wisdom to help us experience and merge into Vaheguru Ji. It is recited daily as part of the morning Nitnem (daily prayers) and can also be recited at any time during the day. In this new English Katha series, we will be going through the translation and meanings of Sri Japji Sahib. We will reflect upon the translations of each stanza (pauri) and how this wisdom has changed the lives of many people, and how this can be applied to our lives. This katha series is in collaboration with Sikhs In Leeds and Basics Of Sikhi. *** Apologies for any mistakes made during the katha *** 00:00:25 Mool Mantar Jap and Simran 00:03:23 Manglacharan 00:05:40 Recap of last week 00:09:03 Gurbani is the Guru, Guru is the Gurbani 00:11:11 Transformational power of sakhis 00:13:56 How we should learn from Sakhian and Pangtian 00:17:18 The history of Japji Sahib 00:19:22 Guru Nanak Dev Ji at the Bein River 00:21:30 Vaheguru's message to Guru Nanak Dev Ji 00:22:25 Guru Ji Meeting the Sidhs 00:27:10 The compilation of Sri Japji Sahib 00:29:26 Sakhi of Guru Amardass Ji at Goindwal 00:31:18 Sakhi of Bhai Lakhu Ji 00:38:56 Sakhi Bhai Budhu Ji serving langar 00:45:04 Japji Sahib - power of the Shaheeds 00:48:00 Remembering our History 00:48:55 Benti to recite and memorise Sri Japji Sahib 00:50:21 Sakhi of Sri Guru Hargobind Ji and Bhai Gopala Ji 00:55:04 Explanation of the Mantars - Tree Analogy 00:57:36 Vaheguru Meditation 00:59:07 Definitions of Mool Mantar 01:10:35 The One God is our father 01:11:18 Next Week 01:11:50 Closing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us online: www.facebook.com/SikhsInLeeds www.twitter.com/SikhsInLeeds www.instagram.com/SikhsInLeeds www.soundcloud.com/Sikhs-In-Leeds www.tiktok.com/@sikhs.in.leeds #GuruNanakDevJi #Sikhi #JapjiSahib #SikhsInLeeds #BasicsOfSikhi #englishkatha
