As moms, we're constantly juggling responsibilities, making decisions, and trying to care for the people around us. But underneathso many of our reactions, frustrations, and struggles are deeper desires that we may not even recognize.
This week on Silly Sheep, we're having an honest conversation about the things competing for our hearts and how we can intentionally grow our affection for Jesus.
We're talking about our own struggles with control, comfort, comparison, and the subtle ways our attention can drift away from the Lord. We unpack how our desires shape our behavior, why simply trying harder isn't the answer, and how fixing our eyes on Christ can bring a real heart change.
We will also share three practical steps to help us examine our hearts and redirect our attention:
1. Notice: What am i really chasing?
2. Name: What deeper desire is driving my reactions?
3. Nourish: What am i feeding, and how can i stir up my affection for Jesus?
Our encouragement this week is simple: We don't have to manufacture a greater love for Jesus through our own effort. We can continually turn our eyes toward Him, behold His goodness, and trust the Holy Spirit to do the transforming work in our hearts.
Scripture referenced:
James 4:1-3, Matthew 6:21, Philippians 1:9
A few questions to consider this week:
*What stirs up my affection for Jesus?
* What blocks or hinders my affection for Him?
* What am i wanting more than i want to glorify God?
Let's keep lifting our eyes, moms. Where our attention goes, our affection often follows. And the more we behold Jesus, the more He changes our hearts.

Rest & Motherhood
Rest can feel almost impossible in motherhood. We tell ourselves, I'll rest when the baby sleeps through the night...when the kids can play together...when they're all in school...when this busy season settles down.
But what happens when we finally reach that next season- and life is still full?
Today we are revisiting one of the very first topics we ever talked about on Silly Sheep: REST. And if we're honest, we need the reminder just as much as anyone.
We talk about the difference between physical rest and the deeper, soul-level rest our hearts are actually longing for. So often, when we're overwhelmed, we instinctively reach for something that promises relief- a show, our phones, scrolling, shopping, food, productivity, or simply checking one more thing off the list. None of those things are necessarily bad, but they can become a "covering too narrow" when we expect them to give us something only Jesus can provide.
True rest isn't ultimately found in a quieter schedule, an easier season, or finally getting everything done. True rest is found in a PERSON.
Jesus invites us. (Matt. 11:28)
In this episode, we talk about...
- Why we continually tell ourselves "we will rest when..."
- Identifying the "counterfeit rest" we instinctively reach for when we are depleted
-The picture of a "covering too narrow" and why earthly comforts never satisfy
- Creating margin
-Learning to prayerfully discern our yeses and nos
-Why rest isn't lazy or selfish
- Letting go of the belief that everything depends on us
- Processing our days instead of simply collapsing at the end of them
- Resting not just can feel better, but so we can continue pouring ourselves out for the people God has called us to love
Our prayer for this week is that we would stop waiting for the perfect season to rest and instead learn to find rest right where we are- in the presence of Jesus.

10 Min Reset: When Your Mind is Going to Worst Case Scenario
"What if this happens? What if something goes wrong? What if i make the wrong decision?"
As moms, it can be so easy for one small worry to send our minds spiraling toward the worse-case scenario. Whether it's our kids, health, finances, relationships, or decisions, fear can convince us that if we just think through every possible outcome, maybe we can somehow stay in control.
In this 10-Min Reset, we're talking about the difference between wisdom and fear, responsibility and control, and what it looks like to come back to the grace God has given us for today. We don't have to carry tomorrow's troubles before they arrive. Instead, we can trust the character of the One who already holds tomorrow.
In this episode...
Why motherhood can make it so east to jump to worse-case scenario.
The difference between being wise and being controlled by fear.
How worrying can disguise itself as preparation or responsibility.
Why our desire to know every possible outcome is often really a desire for control.
What Jesus means when he tells us not to worry about tomorrow.
The :daily bread" reminder that God gives us the grace we need for today
Why living mentally in a future that hasn't happened can leave us anxious.
The comfort of knowing God doesn't promise a life without valleys-- He promises His presence in them.
How to change our "what if?" thoughts to "even if" declarations of trust.
Why trusting God doesn't require understanding the outcome.
The simple question that can interrupt a spiral:
"What is true right now?"
What you'll learn...
When fear starts taking your mind into an imaginary future, you can come back to what God has actually given you today.
Start by naming the fear: "What am i actually afraid of? What am i afraid of losing?" Bring it honestly before God and ask whether there is something He is asking you to faithfully do today.
Then surrender the rest.
Our hope isn't that the worse-case scenario could never happen. Our hope is that whatever happens, God will be with us. His presence-- not our ability to predict or control the outcome-- is our security.
Instead of asking: "What is this happens?" we can begin praying: "Even if this happens, God, You will will be with me. You will still be good. And you will give me the grace i need when i need it."
Come back to today. Come back to what is true. Come back to God's character and goodness. And trust Him with everything that is outside of your control.
Scripture mentioned:
Matthew 6:34
Psalm 23
Proverbs 3:5-6
Philippians 4:6-7
Exodus- God providing daily manna
