We are a collective of Australian women’s sports advocates, content creators and fans who for years—decades even—have been left wanting more from mainstream coverage of women in sport.
Realising we could achieve more together than separately, we combined our skills, experience and knowledge to create Siren: A Women in Sport Collective.
ABC's End Game with Tony Armstrong (https://iview.abc.net.au/show/end-game-with-tony-armstrong) tackles Australia's overdue reckoning with racism in sport, with the help of some of its biggest sports stars. In this clip, Tony explores sports media's role in perpetuating stereotypes, and recognising biases in commentary.
You can also listen to a panel discussion reflecting on the impact of the documentary (https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/best-of-abc-sport-podcast/end-game-episode-and-panel-discussion/106244364) hosted by ABC News' Amanda Shalala and featuring Race Discrimination Commissioner Giridharan Sivaraman, leading documentary producer Steve Bibb and Vice President of Melrose Park Football Club Neilab Osman. Panel begins at 49:12.
