Contrary to the (thankfully) diminishing belief that science fiction is a predominantly male genre, women have been at the forefront of sci-fi and speculative fiction since before it became a popularized literary category. Sisters of Sci-Fi is a bi-monthly podcast that examines the immense amount of science fiction written by women since the 1600s. In order to cover as many writers as possible, over this enormous expanse of time, rich with options, the show is formatted like a sort of book club, so listeners can plan ahead and read along, or sit back and enjoy the discussions between host L. Stephanie Tait, and her fellow guest-hosts. New episodes will be posted the first and third Tuesday of every month.
Sci-Fi Snack Stop Episode 9: The Miracle Across the Sand Dunes
Written and read by L. A. Young
Text of the story:
No one knows if it was an act of Mother Nature or Humanity, but it was both the strangest and most marvelous phenomenon to happen in recorded history. The tornados came before and after the floods, which tore away the sand dunes over and over again. The storms destroyed what used to be the Sahara Desert. None of the survivors knew what to think and they left Nature to its course. Over a year later—to the confusion of denizens and of scientists—vegetation sprouted wherever the non-sand gaps permitted them to grow. A new global food supply chain was established here.

Earth Crew 2042 Episode 5: the fire within part 1
Episode 5 of Earth Crew 2042, an episodic radio play by the Sisters of Sci-Fi podcast that is a light-hearted love letter to 1970s sci-fi.
While exploring the Plane of Temporal Wonders, Earth Crew 2042 meets Princess *cheep blehhh*, the younger sister of the Alactrian Empress, who has a plan to get them back to the Milky Way. And it's just might be crazy enough to work.

Sci-Fi Snack Stop Episode 8: Landfill
Written by Joyce Chng
Read by Hiromi Dames
Text of the story:
Landfill
Maria had found the dragon on the beach. It was a giant oarfish, of course. Dragon sounded more mysterious.
A shimmering serpent-shape, the dying oarfish was beautiful.
The earthquake struck a week later. The landfill close to the beach spilled refuse into the sea. Maria knew the landfill too. She picked sweet tomatoes that grew from plastic bags.
The landfill was a mountain of plastics. Plastic bodies, plastic hearts.
Maria was sure the dragons would return.
People shouldn't ignore such warnings.
One day the landfill would become a true garden where everyone could grow their fruits and vegetables.
