#34 Guardians of the Threshold with Samsara Tanner

There are some women you meet who carry a quality of remembering. Samsara Tanner is one of those women. A grandmother, mother, birthkeeper, doula and keeper of rites of passage, Samsara has spent decades witnessing women at some of the most profound thresholds of their lives — birth, motherhood, loss, transformation and the great transition into the later seasons of womanhood. I was especially blessed to experience Samsara’s work at Heart of the Rose Festival, where she held a very special Grandmothers Circle. I was lucky enough to attend, and there was something deeply moving about being gathered in that space — listening, witnessing and feeling into the wisdom that becomes available when women come together across generations. It left me with a deeper sense of just how important our grandmothers are. Not simply as older women, but as keepers of memory, wisdom, stories, experience and perspective. And perhaps, in a culture that so often celebrates youth while overlooking age, we have forgotten something essential: Where are our elders? Where are the women who have walked before us? Where are the spaces where their wisdom can be received? This conversation with Samsara opens that doorway. We speak about becoming a grandmother, the sacredness of the later stages of womanhood, the wisdom held in our bodies and experiences, and the importance of restoring rites of passage and intergenerational connection. A beautiful, tender and deeply needed conversation with a woman who is walking this path with such heart. I’m so honoured to share Samsara with you. 🌹 Find Samsara here: @grandmother_birthkeeper (https://www.instagram.com/grandmother_birthkeeper/) #Grandmother #Eldership #Birthkeeper #RitesOfPassage #WiseWoman #WomenSupportingWomen #FeminineWisdom #SacredEldership #HeartOfTheRose #GrandmotherCircle

#33 The Sacred Journey of Becoming with Erika Tourrell

In this episode, we explore the ancient and often forgotten wisdom of rites of passage—those threshold moments that mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Across cultures and throughout history, rites of passage have served as sacred containers for transformation. They have helped individuals move consciously through life's great transitions: from child to adult, maiden to mother, seeker to leader, wounded self to initiated self. Yet in modern society, many of these ceremonial pathways have been lost. As a result, countless people find themselves standing at life's thresholds without guidance, witnessing, or support. They know something is ending. They sense something new is trying to emerge. But they lack the structures that help them cross consciously into the next phase of their becoming. In this conversation, we explore why initiation matters and how true rites of passage are not simply events but profound inner journeys. They often require us to release identities, beliefs, patterns, and attachments that can no longer accompany us into the life that is calling us forward. We discuss the role of challenge, surrender, devotion, and courage in the initiation process, and why discomfort is often a sign that transformation is underway. Rather than avoiding uncertainty, rites of passage invite us to meet it with presence and trust. We also explore how modern-day ceremonies, retreats, pilgrimages, and sacred journeys can serve as contemporary rites of passage, creating powerful opportunities for healing, remembrance, and rebirth. Whether through motherhood, relationship, loss, leadership, spiritual awakening, or a call to purpose, life continually presents invitations to step beyond who we have been and become who we are truly here to be. This episode is an invitation to reflect on your own thresholds. What chapter is ending? What is seeking to emerge? And what would become possible if you approached this transition not as a problem to solve, but as an initiation to embrace? Join us as we explore the sacred art of crossing thresholds and reclaiming the wisdom of rites of passage in the modern world. ✨Join the Rose Author Elders Circle (https://hellosistersoftherose.systeme.io/roseauthorprogramme-elders) 🌹Connect with Erika: @erikatourell_ecosomatics (https://www.instagram.com/erikatourell_ecosomatics/) (https://www.instagram.com/mature.eros/) ✨ Connect with Natalie: @thenatalierose__ (https://www.instagram.com/thenatalierose__/) 🌹 Connect with Sisters of the Rose: @sisters_oftherose (https://www.instagram.com/sisters_oftherose/)

#32 Resurrecting the Elder with Michal Maayan

What is the difference between growing old and becoming an Elder? In this episode of the Sisters of the Rose Podcast – The Elders Series, we sit down with Michal Maayan to explore one of the most important questions of our time: why do we need to resurrect the role of the Elder? Together, we explore how modern society has increasingly reduced ageing to a biological process, often overlooking the deeper social, cultural, and spiritual role that Elders have traditionally held within communities. We ask what happens when someone becomes older, but is never consciously invited into Eldership. Because being old and being an Elder are not necessarily the same thing. An Elder is someone who has lived through enough of life's thresholds to carry perspective, wisdom, and experience—and who chooses to offer that wisdom in service of others. Our conversation explores what has been lost as traditional structures of Eldership have disappeared, and why this role may be more important now than ever. In a world experiencing profound social change, disconnection, and uncertainty, where are the people we can look towards for perspective? Who holds the stories? Who helps the younger generations understand what it means to live through difficulty, change, loss, love, and transformation? Michal invites us to consider Eldership not simply as a stage of ageing, but as a conscious role, responsibility, and rite of passage. This conversation asks us to reconsider what it means to grow older—and whether we are willing to create a culture where people are supported to become the Elders their communities so deeply need. Because perhaps the question isn't simply: "How do we age well?" Perhaps it is: "How do we become Elders?" And perhaps, in these times, resurrecting the Elder is not just important for those growing older—it is essential for all of us.✨Find out more about the Rose Author Elders Circle (https://hellosistersoftherose.systeme.io/roseauthorprogramme-elders) 🌹Connect with Michal: @michal.maayan (https://www.instagram.com/michal.maayan/) @mature.eros (https://www.instagram.com/mature.eros/) ✨ Connect with Natalie: @thenatalierose__ (https://www.instagram.com/thenatalierose__/) 🌹 Connect with Sisters of the Rose: @sisters_oftherose (https://www.instagram.com/sisters_oftherose/)
