E17: The Whole Meal of Life: Walking Boldly Through Fear and Fearlessness

Welcome to Sitting with the Earth. In this episode, we explore what it means to sit fully with our experiences without fear, leaning into the completeness and abundance that is already present. We look at the wisdom of accepting life as a whole meal—both its pleasures and its pains—and how letting go of our tight control can open the door to true adventure. We also dive into the profound practice of vulnerability. By dropping our habitual shields and choosing not to separate ourselves from the world around us, we step out of automatic pilot and create space for genuine connection. Finally, we reflect on the legacy of Saint Francis as a holy fool and the essential need to find, embrace, and express your joy through song, art, or creativity. Remember: you are incredibly strong, and your vulnerability is not your weakness. If this reflection brought you comfort or perspective, please like, subscribe, and share it with someone who might need to hear it today. #Mindfulness #Vulnerability #SittingWithTheEarth #SpiritualAwakening #Presence #InnerPeace #Joy #SelfReflection

E16: Sacred Stillness: Why One Calm Mind Can Change Everything

Enjoy - https://www.brothergeronimo.com (https://www.brothergeronimo.com) - Nondual contemplation with Brother G. Welcome to another episode of Sitting with the Earth. In this session, we explore the vital importance of cultivating a serenity space—a sanctuary within your home or a public sacred space like a temple or church—that serves as an anchor during life's more "dramatic" moments. We delve into the powerful metaphor of a boat in danger, where the presence of even one calm individual can stabilize the entire group. By moving away from a life of "worrying and warring" and toward one of awe and simplicity, we can learn to enjoy the beauty all around us. Drawing on wisdom from Mark Nepo and Zen traditions, we reflect on aging as a process of "giving off light" and the ultimate liberation found in letting go of our agendas. Join us as we practice being present in our bodies and recognizing the Earth as our constant, loving companion. In this episode, you’ll discover: • How to find and utilize sacred spaces for mental and spiritual restoration. • The "Anchor of Peace": Why your internal calm matters to the collective. • Insights on mindfulness and aging: Moving from seeking thrills to finding deep happiness. • Mark Nepo’s meteor metaphor: Understanding the beauty of letting go. • The practice of non-dual presence and resting in a place where nothing needs to be "done". #Meditation #Mindfulness #Spirituality #MarkNepo #InnerPeace #NonDualism #SittingWithTheEarth

E15: The Heart Eats Challenges for Breakfast

Enjoy - https://www.brothergeronimo.com (https://www.brothergeronimo.com) - Nondual contemplation with Brother G. In this episode of Sitting with the Earth, we delve into the essence of "right action" and what it means to move from your true center. Rather than focusing on a plan, we explore the quality of energy and tone that arises when we are fully present. We discuss the concept of security as a "lesser reward" and invite you to find completeness in the simple act of being. Whether you are sitting, standing, lying down or walking, this meditation encourages you to "dig" the present moment without the need to be anywhere else. Drawing inspiration from Mark Nepo and the music of Jackson Browne, we explore how the heart can find appreciation even in the midst of despair. Discover how to live "neck-deep in grace" and connect more deeply with the Earth, our mother who is always with us. Key Topics Covered: • Mindfulness and Presence: Learning to be "here" without the urge to move on. • The Power of the Heart: How our inner strength can "eat challenges for breakfast." • Spiritual Connection: Recognizing the grace that surrounds us daily. • Moving from the Center: Finding a flow that is natural and authentic. == The Drums of War: https://youtu.be/53U-9uxfXY0?si=1whv-t_30pDEwjU5 (https://youtu.be/53U-9uxfXY0?si=1whv-t_30pDEwjU5) #SittingWithTheEarth #MindfulnessMeditation #MarkNepo #JacksonBrowne #SpiritualGrowth #InnerResilience #NeckDeepInGrace #RightAction #Presence #MentalWellness

This episode invites you to explore a path of non-striving and profound acceptance. We delve into the concept that true growth is an internal process that cannot be forced, drawing on timeless wisdom from several sources: • Alan Watts on the inherent perfection of nature and pure action. • Anthony De Mello on finding happiness in the present, even amidst pain or loss. • The Letter to the Philippians on learning to be content in all circumstances. This guided reflection offers a space where nothing needs to change—not even your desire for change. Learn to hold your present experiences with tenderness and care, from the "purposelessness" of your own breath to the simple act of watching squirrels. Discover how letting go of destinations and future imaginings can lead to a more peaceful, confident way of being in the world. E13: You Can Turn Anything into Music

Enjoy - https://www.brother-g.org (https://www.brother-g.org) - Nondual contemplation with Brother G. This episode of Sitting with the Earth is dedicated to my sister Ivy Ross (https://www.ivyarts.org/projects (https://www.ivyarts.org/projects) ). Today is her birthday. In this episode, we explore the profound freedom of not having to "pick and choose" the conditions of our happiness. We discuss how to hold pain, disappointment, and the "untoward" events of life within a "larger, spacious faith" rather than letting them define our peace. I share a legendary story about jazz pianist Thelonious Monk and a pitcher of "rancid" orange juice. Just as a musician can take a flat note or a sour moment and turn it into beautiful music, we have the capacity to turn any situation into a miracle. Even when life feels difficult or "situationally rancid," the ground beneath us remains fertile. Join me for a reflection on surrender, resilience, and finding the music in the mess. Key Themes: • Non-duality and acceptance • Thelonious Monk story • Turning difficulty into miracles • Finding peace in "rancid" situations #SittingWithTheEarth #Spirituality #NonDuality #TheloniousMonk #Mindfulness #Resilience #InnerPeace

E11: You Don't Need to Fight So Hard: Letting Go of the Personal Will

Enjoy - http://www.SWTE.one (http://www.SWTE.one) - Nondual contemplation with Brother G. Welcome to Sitting with the Earth. This episode offers a powerful reflection on radical acceptance, mindfulness, and the nature of personal will. Explore what it means to live in "the place where nothing is undone, where everything is just as it is", learning to welcome all experiences—from fear and difficulty to joy and pleasure. This session focuses on the practice of observing and surrendering the ego. Drawing on a paraphrase from Chuck C, we investigate how to discern our "personal will"—the desires that create ego satisfaction—and understand how feeding the ego can increase suffering. The central invitation is to "surrender the ego repeatedly", finding peace by fighting reality less. This meditation concludes with a comforting reassurance: "You are loved" and "You don't need to fight so hard."
