Slow Living as a Way Home is a gentle space to breathe, soften, and return to yourself. Hosted by Antüpewma, this short, soulful podcast explores slowness as medicine—through stories, reflections, and simple practices you can carry into daily life. Aquí, we move with intention, corazón, and the quiet rhythm our ancestors trusted. Drop your shoulders, take a breath… and come home to you.
How to Build an Ancestor Altar | Honoring Loved Ones Through Ritual
Every October, I begin building the ancestor altar. This year, two new photos are going on it, and I keep picking them up and putting them down. Placing them makes it real. And I can’t wait to feel their energy near me again.
When I was a girl in Chile, this season meant the cemetery. On All Saints Day, we brought flowers and food. We didn’t go to be sad. We went to visit. Now I do it from New Jersey, with candles and photographs on a table, and it still feels like the same visit. In this episode, I share where my altar comes from, why it isn’t a Mapuche altar, and what I’m learning from the Mapuche way of seeing death as a passage, not an ending.
You’ll also be guided through a practice called “A Visit,” a gentle way to say a name aloud, tell them something small, and leave the door open for a sign.
The altar stays. The visit never fully ends.
In this episode:
Why an altar can become the cemetery you carry when your people are far away
Family practice
What I’m learning about the spirit that continues, and what it means to accompany
A guided practice for visiting someone you’ve lost, with no pressure to receive a sign
How to ask for signs gently, and how to hold the sign and the ache together

Grief, Loss, and Faith: How to Come Back When Your Heart Closes
In this episode, Antüpewma returns after a summer of retreat, travel, and loss to share what happened when grief closed her heart and made her question the medicine she built her life around. With Mapuche teachings on accompanying the dead, her family’s tradition of three days of storytelling, and a gentle grief practice with water, this is an honest episode for anyone whose faith went quiet right when they needed it most.
