Thirty years of Tarantino as Clooney's ugly brother.
As we continue to get lazier on this show (welcome to syndication of previous anniversary years as we record/release new seasons for 1995 and 1997) we have handed over our film-watching fates to the gods of 1996 as we begin our journey to go week by week through the year that is well-known as the peak of cinema!
Also Salma Hayek as a vampire stripper is an obvious place to start.
Not just with movies. With anything. And who are we to question this simple fact? Along the way we debate if two and a half decades have revealed our initial enthusiasm for Ms. Hayek's monsters as the product of teenage hormones or perhaps life is a truly a flat circle and we will come to terms with now just being horny old men.
Spoiler alert: yes.

Patreon Preview of St. Patrick's Day in 1995: CIRCLE OF FRIENDS
Spending St. Patrick's Day with CIRCLE OF FRIENDS
We get together for our second holiday special for the greatest holiday of all: watching Ms. Minnie Driver on the prowl. Unfortunately for us the dating scene as presented by the film CIRCLE OF FRIENDS is a harsh landscape for our favorite actress as she is met with a duplicitous Alan Cumming (not as charming here as he is in EYES WIDE SHUT when he relentlessly flirts with Tom Cruise) and a woman that one host is convinced is Connie Nielsen until DEEP BLUE SEA provides the answer. As that film always does. Enjoy!

Patreon Preview of Valentine's Day in 1995: BEFORE SUNRISE
1995 Holiday Special #1
In our first holiday special of 1995 at the Sober Cinema we tackle the most romantic film of all time with the least romantic perspective: beaten down, bitter middle-aged men who hate the genetic lottery that Ethan Hawke won. (DEAD POETS SOCIETY awkward phase does not count.) However personal growth is achieved by pretty much siding with Julie Delpy the entire time and then we lose any goodwill gained by discussing Bill Belichick's sex life. Thanks for being a patron!
