Social Ave. is a podcast about brave people and the courage it takes to become one.
Hosted by Sydney Encinas, Social Ave. brings you honest, uplifting conversations with dreamers, business owners, athletes, creatives, people of faith, and everyday people doing extraordinary things. The common thread? They’re choosing to chase what they feel called to do—fearlessly and unapologetically. These aren't conversations about having it all figured out. They're about the leaps, setbacks, faith, fears, unexpected turns, and moments of courage that happen along the way.
Social Ave. exists for the person
In today's episode of the Social Ave. Podcast, I sit down with Steven and Katrina Duncan as they share their deeply personal and emotional birth story. What should have been a time filled with joy and celebration became a journey of unexpected challenges, heartbreaking moments, and unimaginable uncertainty.
Through the highs and lows, Steven and Katrina share their experience, the emotions that came with it, and ultimately, an encounter with Jesus that became part of their incredible story.
This conversation is about so much more than a traumatic birth. It's about faith, love, perseverance, and navigating moments in life that are completely outside of our control.
My hope is that this episode reaches someone who needs encouragement, someone walking through an unexpected season, or someone who simply needs to be reminded that their story isn't over.
I'm so grateful to Steven and Katrina for being vulnerable enough to share something so personal with us.
This is one conversation you won't want to miss!

Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
What happens when you stop waiting to feel fearless and decide to do the scary thing anyway?
In this episode of the Social Ave. Podcast, I sit down with Chelsey Johnson—formerly known as “Wilma Wildcat” at the University of Arizona—to talk about what it looks like to practice bravery in real life.
Today, Chelsey regularly finds herself speaking in front of crowds through her career and her involvement with El Rio Vecinos. But confidence didn’t just appear overnight. We talk about how saying yes to brave things throughout her life has continued to open doors and prepare her for opportunities that once may have felt intimidating.
Public speaking is a huge fear for so many people, so Chelsey shares what helps her get up in front of a room anyway: where she puts her focus, how she handles the nerves, and why sometimes the best strategy really is to stop overthinking it and just do it.
This conversation is a reminder that bravery doesn’t always mean you aren’t scared. Sometimes bravery is simply deciding that fear doesn’t get to make the decision for you.
Because brave people make other people brave.
