Crying over a spilled dinner!
Ever had something ridiculously small happen and suddenly you’re crying like everything has fallen apart? Yep. Me too. I recently spilled something in the kitchen and completely lost it. But I wasn’t crying about the spill. It was everything that had built up before it — and suddenly I was thinking, I hate FIFO. I just want my husband home. FIFO adds an extra layer to everyday overwhelm. We carry the load, push emotions aside because there’s shit to get done, and sometimes even feel guilty telling our partners we’re struggling because they’re away working hard. In this episode, I’m talking about why we need to stop suppressing our emotions, why it’s okay to cry, and four practical ways to reduce overwhelm before we reach breaking point. Because sometimes “I can’t do this anymore” really means… “I can’t do any more today.” 🎧 FIFO Support | Soft Reset — real conversations about the parts of FIFO we don’t talk about enough.

When FIFO Stops Being Worth It
I hate FIFO. I’ve said it plenty of times. A couple of months ago, I was crying on FaceTime telling Stef I was done. I didn’t want to be a FIFO wife anymore. I wanted my husband home every night — and there was actually an opportunity for him to move into a Perth-based role. But once the emotion settled and I really thought about what leaving FIFO would mean for BOTH of us, I realised the answer wasn’t nearly as simple as I thought. In this episode, I’m talking honestly about when FIFO actually stops being worth it — and why that answer isn’t just about money. We talk about income, quality time, job satisfaction, kids, mental health, R&R priorities, keeping your relationship connected and protected, and the things FIFO can actually give a family alongside everything it takes away. Because maybe the question isn’t whether FIFO is good or bad. Maybe the real question is: Is FIFO still giving your family enough to justify what it’s costing you — and are BOTH of you still okay with that trade? This is a very honest look at why, despite absolutely fucking hating parts of FIFO life, I’ve realised that right now… it still works for us. 🎙️ FIFO Support | Soft Reset

FIFO & Cheating
FIFO & Cheating: When Should You Actually Worry? FIFO and cheating is a topic that comes up constantly — but not every change, missed phone call or bad night of reception means your partner is cheating. In this episode, we’re having a balanced conversation about what actually deserves your attention and what might simply be normal FIFO life. We talk about why FIFO can create more opportunity and make cheating easier to hide, how blurred coworker boundaries can develop, the difference between privacy and secrecy, changes in communication and intimacy, camp reception and Wi-Fi excuses, and why someone else’s “signs” shouldn’t automatically become evidence in your relationship. Most importantly, we talk about change, consistency and clusters — knowing what’s normal in your relationship and recognising when that normal genuinely starts to shift. This isn’t about creating fear or turning you into a detective. It’s about understanding the difference between fear and genuine changes, communicating before accusing, and protecting the trust and boundaries that keep FIFO relationships connected. Your relationship still exists when you get on that plane. Your boundaries should too.

The Boundaries That Protect Your Relationship
The Boundaries That Protect Your Relationship Boundaries aren’t about controlling your partner. They’re about protecting the relationship you’ve chosen to build together. In this episode, we’re talking about the boundaries that can help couples feel safer, more secure, respected and connected—from friendships and social media to workplace relationships, communication and those situations that might seem harmless but can slowly create distance or uncertainty. We also talk about something just as important: open, honest transparency. If something happens that could cross a boundary or potentially make your partner uncomfortable, being upfront about it helps protect the trust you’ve built rather than leaving room for doubt later. Because ultimately, healthy boundaries aren’t about creating a list of rules. They’re about two people saying, “This relationship matters to me, so I’m going to protect it.” If you’re sitting there thinking, “Okay, but where do we even start?” I’ve created two resources designed to help couples reconnect, communicate and bring some fun back into their relationship: 💗 14-Day Connection Prompts for Couples – For Him & For Her https://payhip.com/b/JXF3N 🔥 Flirty Couples Prompts (18+) https://payhip.com/b/3H0fh These resources are a great place to start. From there, you’ll begin finding your own rhythm, creating your own rituals, and discovering what works best for your relationship. You can also find these resources through my Instagram and Facebook pages. If you enjoyed this episode, I’d love it if you followed the podcast, left a review, and shared it with someone who could benefit from it. Every share helps more couples build stronger, healthier relationships.

When Perimenopause Meets FIFO: The Emotional Storm No One Warns You About
FIFO is already hard on relationships. The distance, the loneliness, the change in routine, missing your person and trying to stay connected while living two completely different lives. Then add perimenopause into the mix. In this episode, I’m talking about what the last 8–10 days have looked like for me — the sudden low mood, heightened anxiety and insecurity, needing more reassurance, old wounds feeling fresh again, losing motivation and even losing the excitement I normally have for things I love. For a while, I genuinely didn’t feel like myself. And when your husband is FIFO, the person who feels like your safety net isn’t physically there to give you the hug or reassurance you might desperately need in those moments. I talk about how I got through those days without pretending I was fine, the tools I used to stop myself spiralling further, how Stef supported me from site, and something I didn’t expect — how our FIFO Relationship Box and connection prompts naturally gave my anxious brain some of the reassurance it was searching for without putting all of that pressure on him while he was working. This isn’t an episode about having all the answers. I’m still figuring this out too. It’s about recognising that perimenopause can add a whole new emotional layer to FIFO life — and maybe we need to give ourselves a little more grace while we learn how to navigate it. Because apparently surviving FIFO wasn’t enough of a challenge. Now we’re adding perimenopause. 😂

Put the L Plates On: Nobody Knows How to FIFO at First
Starting FIFO life can feel overwhelming. One minute you’re trying to hold it together, and the next you’re wondering why everyone else seems to cope better than you. But what if the problem isn’t you? In this episode, I share a simple analogy that completely changed the way I look at FIFO life. We wouldn’t expect someone to jump behind the wheel of a car and know exactly what they’re doing on day one, so why do we expect ourselves to instantly know how to navigate one of the biggest lifestyle changes a relationship can face? If you’ve ever felt like you’re failing at FIFO, this episode is your reminder that you’re not failing—you’ve just got your L plates on. If you’re looking for more support, I also create FIFO relationship resources, children’s books, learning packs, and printable tools designed to help FIFO families feel more connected and understood. The Emotional Hangover After R&R: The Part of FIFO Nobody Talks About
R&R is supposed to be the best part of FIFO life… so why can it sometimes leave you feeling flat, emotional or completely exhausted once it’s over? In this episode, I talk about the emotional hangover that can follow R&R—the constant transitions, shifting routines, emotional highs and lows, and why this experience is far more common than most people realise. If you’ve ever wondered why you feel “off” after your partner flies back to site, this episode is for you. The Silent Scorecard | Are You Keeping Score in Your Relationship?
Have you ever found yourself thinking… “I organised the holiday.” “I planned the date night.” “I was the first one to apologise… again.” Without even realising it, many of us keep a silent scorecard in our heads. We collect disappointments, store them away, and before we know it, we’ve built a prosecution case against the person we love. In this episode, I share a random epiphany that hit me and why I think so many of us do this without even noticing. We’ll talk about: * Why our brains naturally remember disappointments more than appreciation. * The two files we all keep in our minds. * How to intentionally strengthen your appreciation file. * Why “Talk it. Work it. Shred it.” can stop little hurts becoming years of resentment. * And how to get back to being teammates instead of scorekeepers. If you’ve ever caught yourself mentally keeping score in your relationship, this episode is for you. If this episode resonated with you, I’d love it if you followed the podcast, left a review, and shared it with someone who might need to hear it. FIFO Support | Soft Reset is where we have honest conversations about FIFO life, relationships, anxiety, healing, and building stronger connections—one conversation at a time.

What happens when you stop chasing?
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you stopped organising the dates… stopped initiating the deeper conversations… or stopped being the one who always keeps the relationship moving forward? In this first episode of Season 2, we dive into a conversation that many FIFO wives and long-term couples quietly wrestle with but rarely talk about. Is “chasing” really the right word… or are we actually talking about continuing to pursue the person we’ve chosen? In this episode, I share my own reflections on how our emotional needs change as we grow older, why relationships can slowly slip into routine, and why curiosity, intention and emotional connection matter just as much after 5, 10 or 20 years together. This isn’t about blaming our partners. It’s about asking ourselves how we can continue choosing each other through every season of life. If this episode resonates with you, I’d love for you to share it with your partner. Sometimes the most meaningful conversations begin by simply listening together. 🎙️ Don’t Start Saying Goodbye To Early.
A couple of days before fly out, something shifts. I get quieter. More emotional. More reflective. After 16 years of FIFO, I’ve learned that sometimes we start saying goodbye before our partner has even left. In this episode, I talk about the emotional lead-up to fly out, the pressure we put on ourselves to make every moment count, and why being present matters more than creating the perfect goodbye. A heartfelt conversation for every FIFO partner who struggles with those last few days before swing.

The FIFO Cycle: The 3 Stages Nobody Talks About
Hey WAGS, If you’ve ever felt like every swing follows the same emotional pattern, you’re not imagining it. In this episode, Tamara and I unpack the three stages many FIFO partners experience after their loved one leaves for site. 💔 The Adjustment Stage – when everything feels off and you’re finding your feet again. ☀️ The Routine Stage – when you stop counting days and start focusing on your own life, goals, and routine. 📅 The Countdown Stage – when the calendar comes out, excitement builds, and homecoming starts feeling close. We also talk about why our FIFO partners are adjusting too, the trap of comparing who has it harder, and how creating your own life between swings can make FIFO feel much more manageable. Whether you’re new to FIFO or have been doing it for years, you’ll probably recognise yourself somewhere in these three stages. 🎧 Grab a coffee, get comfortable, and let’s chat FIFO life.

The Difference Between Feeling Chosen And Being Controlling
Is wanting more connection controlling? Or are you simply trying to feel chosen in your relationship? In this episode we’re talking about the difference between healthy connection, unmet needs, anxiety, trust, reassurance, and when a request for closeness crosses the line into control.

Why FIFO Feels Like Living Two Different Lives
Every FIFO swing requires adjustment. One minute you’re sharing life together in person, the next you’re trying to maintain connection through phone calls and messages. In this episode, I’m talking about the emotional side of FIFO life, the constant transition between togetherness and distance, trust, overthinking, social media triggers, and what I’ve learned about looking for reassurance in technology instead of communication. ♥️

Feeling Lonely Inside The Relationship
In this episode we’re talking about relationship loneliness, emotional unavailability, emotional burnout and what happens when you love someone deeply but still feel emotionally disconnected from them. We dive into why emotional distance hurts so much, how FIFO life and stress can affect connection, the male side of emotional shutdown, and how anxiety and overthinking can start growing when emotional safety feels inconsistent. This is not a man bashing episode 😂 it’s an honest conversation about emotional connection, communication and learning how to emotionally meet each other again before loneliness quietly takes over a relationship.

When Anxiety Starts Looking for Proof
this episode, I talk about what happens after your partner actually leaves for FIFO work and how anxiety can start turning normal situations into perceived threats. From delayed replies and social media horror stories to overthinking, emotional spirals, and learning to separate fear from reality — this episode is an honest conversation about the mental side of FIFO life that many women quietly struggle with. We also dive into communication, reassurance, emotional safety, and why comparing your relationship to strangers online can sometimes do more harm than good. Real talk, real emotions, and zero fake perfection.

“Before He Even Left”
In this episode, I talk about something I see happen all the time when a partner starts FIFO for the first time — the fear spiral starts before they’ve even left. Women join FIFO pages looking for support, but instead end up consuming endless stories about cheating, lying, failed marriages, hidden phones, escorts, and betrayal. Before their husband has even boarded the plane, anxiety has already convinced them something bad is coming. This episode isn’t about ignoring red flags or pretending bad situations don’t exist. It’s about recognising when fear, social media, and other people’s trauma start shaping the way you see your own relationship. I talk about how anxiety can make us project problems before there’s proof, how constant negative content affects the nervous system, and why not every FIFO relationship is doomed from the start. If your partner is starting FIFO and your brain is already spiralling before day one — this one’s for you.
