EP 32 PT1: Chronicles of the Nildorin: A D&D Actual Play
🎧 Chronicles of the Nildorin – Ep 32, Session 60 (Part 1)
The episode opens at the Lily Blossom Tavern, where Hal and Selene are officially welcomed into the Ordo Antichorum. With the grim news that Taron, Ludin, and Verlig have been captured, the party boards the Sea Princess to sail north and approach Cold Rot from behind. The voyage begins with a tense shakedown from Captain Nog, a broad-shouldered orc. When Nog tries to extort the party for an extra thousand gold on top of their deposit, Nim reaches into her bag and dumps exactly 849 gold pieces onto the deck to secure their passage.
Below deck, Nim and Selene venture into the smoky galley to discover the ship's cook, an orc entirely missing his nose, boiling a greenish-brown sludge that smells of seawater and orc skin. Appalled by the bubbling slime, they kindly banish the cook, whom Nim nicknames "Xander," to take a break. Selene casts a ritual Purify Food and Drink to sanitize the kitchen space, while Nem empties fresh ingredients from her bag of colding, chopping potatoes, carrots, and meats to bless the crew with a proper stew.
Above deck, Hal decides the best way to understand nautical life is through magical identity theft. Hal mimics Captain Nog's commanding voice and sets out to endlessly pester the grumpy orc crew for their sailing secrets. He questions Narthak on mopping the deck, interrogates Borag on the mechanics of pulling ropes, and thoroughly confuses Gruk, who points out a massive storm cloud approaching their position. Hal learns virtually zero sailing secrets but causes absolute chaos.
In the quiet confines of the ship's narrow quarters, Harding and Nem share a tender conversation. Harding models her freshly repaired armor, and reflects on how her desires have shifted from a glorious death in battle to growing old peacefully in Nem's arms. Several doors down, a completely green, painfully seasick Dante distracts himself from his swaying hammock by reading a dry book on dragonborn history. Among the mundane facts, he discovers cryptic margin notes suggesting that dragonborn dream draconic memories that are not their own.
