The Practice of Somatic Living explores life through the intelligence of the body.
Each episode examines human experience from a biological and nervous system perspective, how we perceive, react, learn, and change.
Rather than ideas or beliefs, these conversations focus on direct observation: what is happening in the body, how it shapes our identity, and how awareness of these processes can lead to real transformation.
Through dialogue with Dr. Jivasu, this podcast brings a clear, grounded understanding of life as it is lived, within the body itself.

The 5 Somatic Practices for Self-Therapy & Transformation
Somatic practice begins when the body leads.
Dr. Jivasu explains five practices that return attention to sensation, breath, movement, awareness and the direct experience of life.
In this conversation, Matt and Dr. Jivasu explore what makes a practice somatic and why feeling the body matters more than performing a movement correctly.
The episode introduces five main Somatic Practices:
Somatic stretching and body-led movement
Somatic breathing
Somatic meditation through humming
Somatic awareness and interoception
Somatic sensuality
Together, these practices offer a movement from thinking to feeling. They can be explored through brief moments throughout the day rather than remaining separate from ordinary life.
You’ll also hear about:
The difference between exercise and somatic practice
Allowing sensation to guide movement
Moving away from performance and externally imposed goals
Humming as a form of somatic meditation
Recognizing hunger, thirst, tiredness and other bodily signals
Becoming more receptive to ordinary sensory experience
Bringing short periods of practice into a busy day

From Relaxation to Transformation: How the Soma Path Works
What makes Soma a comprehensive path to transformation—not simply another practice?
Dr. Jivasu maps three experiential milestones and five defining qualities of the Soma Path.
The conversation begins with relaxation and rest, then explores the development of a healthy somatic identity, the discovery of our unique Somatic Personality, and transformation as an ongoing process.
Dr. Jivasu also explains the five qualities that shape the Soma Path: it is simple, integrated, contemporary, inclusive and respectful. Together, these qualities connect inner development with relationships, work and ordinary daily life—so practice does not remain separate from living.
In this episode, Matt and Dr. Jivasu explore:
The three experiential milestones of the Soma Path
Healthy somatic identity and Somatic Personality
Why practice can become part of everyday life
Flow and the movement beyond conditioned patterns
The five qualities that make Soma comprehensive

5 Stages of Enlightenment: From Identity to Non-dual Awareness
What are the five stages of enlightenment—and why doesn’t the final stage bring the process to an end?
Dr. Jivasu maps the journey from a healthy identity to non-dual awareness and the continuing enlightenment of the body.
In this conversation with Matt, Dr. Jivasu challenges the familiar idea that enlightenment is a single spiritual achievement or final destination. From the Soma perspective, it is an embodied process that begins within ordinary life and continues through five recognizable stages:
1. Healthy Somatic Identity — becoming grounded and capable within ordinary life
2. Somatic Crisis — confronting accumulated memories, conditioning, and emotional pain
3. Somatic Self — emerging into a more authentic, embodied experience of life
4. Somatic Universal — expanding beyond the individual and connecting with the wider world
5. Somatic Non-dual — entering silence, bliss, and nondual awareness
But the fifth stage is not the end. Dr. Jivasu describes enlightenment as an ongoing process in which transformation continues through the body.
The episode also explores:
• Why external achievement can be mistaken for inner freedom
• Why self-discovery cannot be outsourced to a teacher, book, or system
• What “going inside” means through direct connection with the body
• How memories and conditioning influence our choices
• Why a healthy identity comes before moving beyond identity
• How to learn from a teaching without becoming dependent on the teacher
• Why genuine teachers return power to the individual
