The Practical & Spiritual Expression of Love & Acceptance with Dorie Griggs
Hello, and welcome to another episode of Some Random Thoughts. I am your host, Ryan Mulkowsky. This season, we focus on our guests in the “What’s Your Passion” series. We continue this season with Dorie Griggs: first responder & healthcare chaplain and sports enthusiast.
In this episode, we discuss Griggs’ background as an avid sports enthusiast having had statistician, marketing and coordinating jobs in various levels of sports management. We discuss her later shift into the world of ministry and her creative, original work ministering to those in the industry of journalism. A discussion of her pastoral identity continues as she expounds on entering seminary, her work in interfaith relations, clinical pastoral education, and her work as a first responder and hospital chaplain. We talk about our identities and approaches to chaplaincy and what we see chaplaincy being in the future in a growing secularized society.
Bio: Dorie Griggs is a first responder chaplain with the Roswell Fire Department and registry chaplain with Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital. She is a commissioned and endorsed minister with the Federation of Christian Ministries. Dorie is also an avid sports enthusiast still involved in volunteering for major sporting events such as the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

And there's nothing necessarily wrong with what's going on in my life right now. In fact, it's the opposite. Things are going quite well in my life when it comes to my family and when it comes to my professional career and the professional work that I do. I love the job that I am doing. It is a wonderful, wonderful job. And I love my family. I love my wife married for over 11 years. And we've had a wonderful marriage and we continue to have a wonderful marriage. We have two beautiful children that are the light of my lives, our lives, my wife and I's lives, but my life, they are the light of my life and they are wonderful. […]
