From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) (with guest Julia Elenoir of 5Rand)
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Our special guest on this episode is Julia Elenoir, vocalist of Italian melodic death metal band 5Rand.
This episode, we cracked open one of the wildest genre-swerves of the ‘90s — From Dusk Till Dawn. You think you’re settling in for a gritty crime thriller… and then the movie grabs you by the collar and hurls you straight into vampire chaos. No warning. No mercy. Just blood, neon, and Tex-Mex mayhem.
Directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by (and co-starring) Quentin Tarantino, this 1996 cult classic stars George Clooney as the cool-headed criminal Seth Gecko and Tarantino himself as the deeply unhinged Richie Gecko. Toss in a haunted ex-pastor, a hostage family, a desert border crossing, and a strip club called the Titty Twister… and you’ve got cinematic gasoline just waiting for a match.
And yes — we talk about that scene.
When Salma Hayek walks out as Santanico Pandemonium, time basically stops. The lighting, the music, the snake, the slow burn of tension — it’s one of the most iconic scenes in horror-action history. We break down why it works, why it shocked audiences in ’96, and why it still hits decades later.

Interview with Kimberley Crossman from Deathgasm and Deathgasm 2
On this combined mega-episode of The Metal Pit Podcast and Someone’s In My Fruit Cellar Podcast, Blake sits down with actress Kimberley Crossman — star of the cult horror/metal film DEATHGASM and the upcoming DEATHGASM 2.
We talk acting, horror fandom, heavy metal culture, mental health, ridiculous movie gore, why improv is terrifying and wonderful, smoking fake cigarettes while pretending to be a badass, and how she went from thinking metal fans were “scary people in scary clothes”... to discovering that the metal community is one of the most open, loving, supportive groups she has ever worked with.
Kimberley also opens up about navigating depression, therapy, her podcast Pretty Depressed, becoming an ambassador for mental health research & girl-focused charities, filming in Green Bay for the 60 Yard Line, learning salsa dancing for Lucy Lawless, and how wild + surreal it is seeing DEATHGASM fandom still raging 10 years later.
We dig into the metal / horror crossover… AND she teases the absolute madness awaiting fans in Deathgasm 2 — including gore moments she STILL sees in her head when she closes her eyes.
Also: she had her baby shower this morning before this interview… so yes… power move.
