Welcome to Sonder's first double feature! Daniel Krulak and Alex Oxenuk join me for a lively discussion about...pretty much everything under the sun? Initially bonded by their Slavic backgrounds, Daniel and Alex are two peas in a pod. We discuss the pros and cons of being a NARP (non-athlete regular person), the trials and tribulations of their first year as Transfer Student Leaders (TSLs), and what Daniel is going to do when Alex studies abroad next semester. We tell the stories behind some of our craziest lore drops, and try to predict the TSL Awards Banquet winners (we went 1/3). We also talk about our favorite horror movies (hello La La Land), and I now have it on good authority that Mike Tyson cried while watching The Notebook. How do I know this? Listen and find out!

#11: Pitcher for One
Spritzes and tiramisu and Space Wednesday, oh my! Corey Lochan and I have a lot in common, but nothing is more important than the fact that we're both perfect (if you met us, you'd understand). Therefore, today we have a perfectly chaotic discussion about Corey's siblings being saved on Bondi Rescue, why everyone should learn the art of doing nothing, and how sometimes the best friendships are born out of sending Instagram Reels. Corey also dishes on the Commons experience and living on Sutherland's only male floor, the making of The Hustler's brainrot quiz, and how he once took eight showers a day in an effort to review all of the showers on campus. No episode of mine is complete without talking about studying abroad, and Corey might be the only person who likes to talk about it more than I do. We detail spending Easter weekend in Rome and our perfect Italian day in Florence, complete with the most niche sandwich shop ever, aperitivo, and a stellar performance of "Valerie" to a bar full of adoring fans. Is it the most perfect episode to date? I think so, but you can be the judge of that.

#10: I'm Grateful
Since bonding in the Branscomb lobby two years ago, Sarah Nipper and I have taken on all of life's highs and lows together, even when we were 10,000 miles apart. I'm thrilled to talk with her about "Runch", the art of loafing, the skill of building community, and how transferring has inadvertently prepared us for the uncertainty of life after graduation. If you thought you were free from study abroad stories, think again! Sarah shares how she picked Prague to anchor down in (pun completely intended), what it was like adjusting to the Czech's cold culture, and how her semester abroad left her a changed woman (she likes beer now). She also tells stories about cruising through Budapest and reaching new heights in the Italian mountains during her solo Easter holiday in Salerno. Did I mention Sarah is the most grateful person I know? We explore the origin of her attitude of gratitude and talk about why you should never pass up an opportunity to tell the people around you what they mean to you. I hope you feel #grateful after this episode <3

#9: A Long Time Coming
Senior year is here, and we are BACK for Season 2!! I couldn't be happier to be back in Nashville talking with one of my oldest Vandy friends, Matt DeAnzeris. We tell our friendship origin story and discuss the greatest ways we've changed since befriending each other two years ago at orientation. Matt shares some of his behind-the-scenes work as President of the Club Hockey team, along with snippets of his beloved "Vandy Funnies" list. We dissect the difference between having fun and truly being happy, before getting into why people shouldn’t have everything figured out, and if we ever really peak in life (spoiler: we don't). It's the longest episode to date, but it's also been a year in the making. We're left with the question: does everything happen for a reason? Listen and find out!

#8: Around the World
Just when you thought I couldn't talk about my semester abroad more...here comes the Season 1 finale! After three months at home, I've had time to collect my thoughts and really reflect on how study abroad changed my life. I talk about my favorite day from each block, the culture shock coming back to America, and my five greatest lessons from traveling. I delve into my stance on having kids and what I want out of my twenties, and tell a few stories that showed me how the world is big, but the universe always finds a way to remind us that we're never alone. It's been an incredible first season, and I am beyond excited for what's to come! I promise never to bring up how I studied abroad again...until Season 2, probably.

#7: All Roads Lead to Where?
The long-awaited recap of Block 3 in Rome, Italy, is finally here! Sure, my semester studying abroad ended in May...but Rome wasn't built in a day, and clearly neither was this episode. This block, I was in a homestay with the wonderful Ricupero family, where I got to learn about and experience Italian culture firsthand. I talk about their immaculate cooking, readjusting to family life, and how my host mom ruined tiramisu for me. I also discuss my escapades outside of Rome: hiking through Cinque Terre, having my picture taken by a random man in Croatia, experiencing Space for the first (and only) time in Florence, being a performative Game of Thrones fan, and more. My eight-year-old self wanted to move to Italy, so I think she would freak out if she heard this episode. Ciao!

#6. When in Rome
Ever wanted the unfiltered truth about Italy? You're in the right place. Meet my host sister, Martina Ricupero! In this episode, we talk about growing up in Rome, learning to drive, shopping habits, and the excitement ahead as she starts her Master's degree in Portugal. Martina ranks her top 10 cities in the world, gets real about what foreigners can expect from Italian culture, and shares her favorite Roman dishes. You're probably going to crave pasta after this...my apologies in advance. Grazie per l'ascolto!

#5. Did Someone Say Kitsune?
A year ago, if you had told me I'd have the best time of my life living in Japan for six weeks, I would have laughed in your face. But now? Consider me driving the Japan bandwagon. In this episode, you guessed it - I finally recap Block 2 in Kyoto! From my favorite foods (as a girl who used to hate rice) to the philosophy of Kodawari, no stone is left unturned. I also talk about how I ended up in Tokyo every other weekend, my horror story of feeding the Nara deer, and the one sunrise that changed my life. Oh, and did I mention how my nervous system reset here? For a block that almost didn't happen, there's a lot to unpack. Kanpai!

#4. Manly Dice Connoisseurs
Did someone say quadruple feature? Meet Reilly Baker, Leo Zanotti, Bret Williams, and Blake Podewils; four students from Indiana University spending their semester studying abroad in Kyoto, Japan. In this episode, we talk about our biggest culture shocks, what we miss from home, and how we all ended up in Kyoto. Later, we debate Greek mythology and reflect on the ways living in Japan has and will continue to change us. If you don't laugh at least once, just wait until you hear Bret's freestyle.

#3. Sydney? I Barely Know Her
What better way to kick off a semester than with a beer class and some of the world's most beautiful beaches? In the long-overdue first solo episode of Sonder, I recap Block 1 in Sydney, Australia! I talk about the underwhelming culture shock, Yo-Chi, the highs and lows of a six-week vacation, and everything I would have done differently if I were to study there again. From the coastal walks to trying kangaroo meat, it was the perfect start to Open Campus. What I wouldn't give for one more bottle of chocolate coconut water. The Sydney Sonder Setlist is coming soon, cheers!

#2. Why Everyone Should Take a Nude Drawing Class
In the second episode of Sonder, I sit down with Sydney native Jessie Ramsey to learn all about life down under! In addition to Australian culture and Jessie's positive and negative experiences in America, we discuss the universal post-grad identity crisis and how finding the right friends can change your life. If you've ever debated taking a live (and nude) drawing class, this is your sign to do so - it might just change your life.

#1. The Doctor is In
In the first episode of Sonder, Anthony Makhlouf joins me to talk about study abroad expectations, transfer origin stories, and why his nickname is affectionately "Dr. Miami". We laugh, reminisce, and look to the future before analyzing the roles our friends play in our lives and dissecting our relationships with our siblings. It's fun, lively, and the perfect way to kick off the season.
