Psalm 110 is an appropriate psalm for us as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday. The nations belong to Christ and as His rightful inheritance, all those nations and their rulers that wish to continue in His grace would be wise to recognize and submit to His reign.
Martin Luther said of this psalm:
“Christ cites this (glorious) Psalm, to confound the Pharisees. Indeed there is not a Psalm like it in the whole scripture; and it ought to be very dear unto the church; seeing that it confirms that great article of faith; Christ’s sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. For Christ is here declared to be a King and Priest; sitting at God’s right hand, not only as truly man, but also as properly God; the Propitiator and Mediator between God and men; the Omnipotent and the Eternal!”
The Text
Psalm 110
A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD said to my Lord,“Sit at My right hand,Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
2 The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion.Rule in the midst of Your enemies!
3 Your people shall be volunteersIn the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning,You have the dew of Your youth.
4 The LORD has swornAnd will not relent,“You are a priest foreverAccording to the order of Melchizedek.”
5 The Lord is at Your right hand;He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath.
6 He shall judge among the nations,He shall fill the places with dead bodies,He shall execute the heads of many countries.
7 He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; Therefore He shall lift up the head.

Psalm 150 - Hallelujah, Praise our Maker
Hallelujah, Praise our Maker
Praise God in His Holy Place
Praise Him in His mighty heavens
Praise Him for His mighty deeds.
Praise God in His sanctuary
Praise Him in the firmament
Praise Him for His mighty power
Praise Him for His excellence
Praise Him with the sound of trumpet
Praise Him with the lute and harp,
Praise Him with the dance and timbrel
Praise Him with the strings and flute.
Praise Him with the well-tuned cymbals
Praise Him with loud clashing brass,
Let all that has breath now praise Him
Hallelujah Praise the LORD!
Glory be unto the Father
And the Son and Holy Ghost
As it was and ever shall be
Hallelujah Praise the LORD!

Psalm 144 - All Praise Be to the LORD My Rock
At Christ Covenant Church (https://christcovenantcentralia.com/), our 50 year goal is to train our body of believers to sing all 150 Psalms. In the month of February, we learned Psalm 144 which is, as most Psalms are, relevant to the battle at hand today. This metrical psalm was written by Julie and Timothy Tennent of Seedbed (https://psalms.seedbed.com/psalm-144/#1497890956027-654ebf8e-2015) and the rousing music written by Leonard R. Payton of St. John Lutheran Church (https://www.stjohnforestpark.org/staff) and the music was sourced from the Treasury of Psalms and Hymns (https://treasuryofpsalmsandhymns.com/) #460.
