Some weeds live in us so long that we mistake them for who we are.
In this episode, Dr. Don Ajenè begins with a story. When he was in his teens, someone made a passing comment that wasn’t even really about him, and he carried it for weeks. He took it apart, looking for what was wrong with him, and he decided the pain was just his nature: someone who feels things too deeply.
It took years to see it differently. Hearing and receiving are not the same act, and not every word needs to take root. The weed is still in his soil, but it rarely needs pulling anymore.
This is not a list of weeds or a plan for removing them. It is a quiet invitation to notice what is growing in us and to see it as something growing, not something we are.
In This Episode
— A passing comment, carried for weeks
— What happens when a weed is mistaken for character
— The difference between hearing and receiving
— Why seeing comes before pulling
— Patience, willingness, and the help of good company

The Curriculum of Becoming: What Life Keeps Teaching Us
There is no syllabus yet. Only ground that has already been prepared, and a welcome that has been waiting.
In this season premiere, Dr. Don Ajenè opens Season 5 with an invitation rather than an agenda. Before naming what this season will explore, he sits with something more foundational: the posture required to walk through it at all. This is not an episode about content. It is a walk through the farm before anything has been named as crop.
Drawing on the through-line from Season 4's Learning to Stand in the Weather, Dr. Ajenè begins where that season left off, rooted, not past the weather but standing inside what it taught. He names four postures the season will ask of every listener: patience, rootedness, willingness to be changed, and companionship. Not a lesson to carry off and use by Tuesday, but an orientation to return to all season long.
This is not an episode about arrival. It is an invitation into a curriculum with no final exam, only ongoing enrollment.
In This Episode
Why this season begins with the farm, not the harvest
The difference between passive waiting and active patience
Why things must root before they can bear fruit
What it means to let something change you, not just inform you
Companionship as a posture, not just a relationship
An introduction to The Curriculum of Becoming — a curriculum with no graduation, only enrollment
Reflection Question
What would it mean to show up this season willing to be changed, not just informed?

Dawn
Dawn doesn't announce itself. It doesn't ask if you endured well enough or stood correctly in the weather. It simply comes because that is its nature. Because the day has always followed the night.
In this season finale, Dr. Don Ajené sits with the quiet arrival of dawn. Reflecting upon Season 4, this episode honors how far we have traveled through all the previous episodes: through humidity, heat, shade, wind, stillness, the eye, and soft rain, and what has been growing in us one degree of light at a time.
This episode invites you to notice the dawn already present in you, whether you can see it yet or not.
