Soul Essence is my regular show that I’ve broadcast over three hundred times on radio, and airs every week at 12pm on House FM.
It’s all varieties of house that have some kind of soulful flavour, from old school US garage to the latest soulful and jackin’ house, disco, Latin, deep and everything in between.
It’s provided online and on demand and there’s a ton of previous episodes dating back to 2017 when I came back to DJing on Househeads Radio and as I currently am on House FM.
House FM is PRS licensed.
Soul Essence on House FM - Show 375 - 30th October 2026
Lovely to have you with me for this Friday’s Soul Essence on House FM. We opened with Bobby & Steve, Overjoyd and Janine Dyer welcoming us to the real world, then found room for Jill Scott’s Right Here Right Now and Kim English’s Everyday. Soul Central brought Strings Of Life / Un Amore Supremo into the final stretch of hour one, with Sgt Slick giving it that nu-disco turn.
The second hour took a jazzier route to begin with, and Phazed Groove’s Elevation kept that feeling going. Thanks to everyone who sent a shout, and to our replay friends listening along later. It’s always good to hear from you, my friends. Hope these records have set you up nicely for the weekend; look after yourselves, and I’ll catch you next time.

Soul Essence on House FM - Show 374 - 23rd October 2026
This week, we keep Soul Essence nice and soulful, with an R&B crossover, a little old-school UK garage and some big disco business along the way. Jill Scott gets the Terry Hunter treatment on Can't Wait, while Lisa Stansfield's The Real Thing brings us Mark Picchiotti's Good Time Disco Vocal. We've got The Shapeshifters and Teni Tinks with You Ain't Love too.
In our second hour, we head back to the classics we love with Steve 'Silk' Hurley and Sharon Pass on The Word Is Love. There’s more disco to come as we work our way towards the funky nu-disco sounds of Serge Funk and Can't Get Enough.

Soul Essence on House FM - Show 373 - 16th October 2026
This week, we begin with a little nod to that classic soulful house sound, then turn up the warmth with familiar voices and a few fresh spins on old favourites. Toscana gets us underway, while Johnny Corporate's Sunday Shoutin' brings an old school touch and DJ Fudge keeps us moving.
Blaze and Barbara Tucker's Most Precious Love still has plenty of life in it, and Dajae's Brighter Days gets a gospel lift from DJ Spen, Thommy Davis and Gary Hudgins. In hour two, Patti Austin and Masters At Work ease us back in before Michael Gray and Barbara Tucker raise the energy. We take a jazzy, funky turn through The Brand New Heavies and Incognito, then a bit of disco house with Danny Coleman and Aneta Moran. Soulsearcher brings back that classic funky house feel before Kathy Brown and Revival House Project help us round things off.
