Lotus Rain: A Poetic Journey of Transformation and Renewal
Hi everyone, Today, I’d like to reflect on transformation. To dive into the topic, I want to share a poem that is very close to my heart. It is called: Lotus Rain. This piece feels like my signature work because it captures the mysterious beauty of life’s journey. As usual, you can either read my poem or listen to the audio version. If you choose to listen, I invite you to close your eyes. Let the words guide you to feel the mystery of renewal and growth.I’d love to take you on this journey - a path I have travelled many times.https://rosejah.substack.com/ (https://rosejah.substack.com/) LOTUS RAIN The Seven Heavens openAnd the Rains pours down in Vibrant Surrender to Sweetly Kiss the Earthwith a billion Drops of Tears. On its Courageous Journey to the EarthThe Rain keeps Drumming|It keeps Singing its Music Swinging in its own RightBringing forth its Free Soul Beat by Beat. On the Rain-Kissed Earth, out of the Muddy WatersMysteriously Grows the Lotus Flower. It is Blossoming with Pedals shaped like Raindrops. If you are silent, You can Hear the Rain’s Soul Pulsating within the FlowerIf you look deep enough, you will see the Works of Night and Daythrough which we can Blossom, The Flowers – You – Me – All of Us. May you Hear The Vibrant Whispers of the RainMay they Irrigate your HeartSo you find the CourageTo Follow the Unique Voice of Your Soul. May this poem inspire you to embrace your journey, find courage in challenges, and celebrate the beauty of your growth. If you like the poem, it will mean a lot to me if you subscribe or share it with someone who goes through a process of transformation. What's Your Vote? Consulting Baldwin and Morrison in Times of Crisis
Hi everyone, I know we are all going through our own process trying to understand how to think and feel about voting, elections, and their outcomes. With that in mind, I’d like to share some reflections that I have titled: What’s your vote? Consulting James Baldwin and Toni Morrison in Times of Crisis Voting is not a question of once every few years.Voting is not an expression of a preference or a choice that you take once and then leave it behind.Voting is not choosing who should govern your life.We should not vote to hand over our power, our agency, our humanity, our responsibility to whoever gets elected. Voting doesn’t mean making a cross on a paper only to step back and wait for change.Yet, that’s exactly what we do when we think of voting as once every few years. But what if we re-defined voting, drawing on the insights of James Baldwin and Toni Morrison? Both writers challenge us to stay awake to our humanity, our responsibility, and the power of everyday actions, especially in times of despair and division. James Baldwin once said :“There may not be as much humanity in the world as one would like to see. But there is some.” He understood the frustration of living in a world that often feels devoid of kindness and justice. Yet, he also insisted on the need for love, describing it as “a passion of very few people” that holds the world together. In Baldwin’s view, this love is not passive but rather a conscious act of choosing who we are and who we refuse to become. He urges us to remember: “Everyone you’re looking at is also you. You could be that person, you could be that cop. And you have to decide in yourself not to be.” In this spirit, we might think of voting not only as choosing representatives every few years but as a daily expression. Our everyday actions, our choices, and our thoughts and words all cast a “vote” for the kind of world we build. Toni Morrison challenges us to see purpose in our existence, saying, “I think we did [ask to be born], and that’s why we’re here.” For Morrison, living well is an active pursuit, a nurturing of life that demands both intellectual and moral courage. She calls us to love, to care, to make one another feel seen and valued. In light of Baldwin and Morrison, I believe that we have to vote on a daily basis to nurture and respect the lives we lead. Voting is a daily act.It is an orientation of the heart. It is a position. It is a principle. So I say: Vote. Confirm your vote each day anew. But never let the vote be the end of it.Vote for the kind of life you cherishAnd then elect yourself to act on behalf of the world you envision.Take radical responsibility to govern your own life.Stop wasting time placing blame on others.Don’t find excuses in unfavorable circumstances or the elected government Hold yourself accountable to vote and to act on a daily basis for the world that you cherish. As you vote each dayand as you elect yourself to act upon your vote you find power to change thingsthat you would not have seenin macro structures and yeteach small action adds to the change we hope to see. So what’s your vote? And have you elected yourself to live by it? You don’t need to tell me.Just hold that clarity in the confidentiality of your own heartOur lives are revelatory of what we stand for. A Love Affair with Life
Falling in Love [Dedicated to my good friend and brother from Freetown] My friend has been asking me: when will you write a love poem?I want to hear how you fall in love. I want to see your words dipped in the exquisite nature of falling love.I felt misunderstood. I feel so very much in love. I fall in love each day again and againwith the nuances of lifewith glimpses of nature, animals and humans.Oh, I am such a big lover of life. I am in love with so many thingsthat falling in what we call romantic lovethough it would be nicesounds like just one notein the symphonyof love that awakens in meday after day.Friend, look at me.This is me, loving. This is me ,being in love. This is me, falling and flowing in loveI am drunk in lovewith all the bits and piecesthat I can make love of. If you like my art, it will mean a lot to me if you subscribe, share it, or leave a comment further below. Dear Friends, Romance is beautiful, but love, for me, is something far more expansive than a need I attach to another person. Falling in love isn’t tied to a single moment or period. Love is an ever-present, boundless force that colors everything I see. Each day, I fall in love over and over: with the textures and rhythms of the world, with its small, miraculous details. Love, in its richest form, flows through us as naturally as breathing. It is a continuous immersion in life’s details and possibilities, a daily romance with the world itself. If Love was a Song, … … romance would be a thrilling note—but just one in a symphony of sounds and harmonies. Romantic love is powerful, yet there is so much more to love than that single, resonant chord. The song of life is composed of endless variations: compassion, wonder, friendship, hope, joy, and empathy. Each of these is a note that, together, creates a beautiful, layered composition. The symphony of love is one we conduct within ourselves, adding and harmonizing new sounds as we live and grow. Love as a Daily Practice It is said that love is not just a feeling, but a commitment. In that sense, I choose to fall in love every day. Some days, I “fall” more easily than others but each day I actively orient myself towards falling in love with life over and over again. To live this way is to practice a daily devotion. Often, it’s not grand or earth-shattering – it’s quiet, like a soft hum beneath the surface. It’s an art of being awake, choosing to be tender, curious, and open with life itself. For me, love has become a way of looking at the world, an intentional refusal to let beauty pass unnoticed. Love isn’t something I give to others only to receive it in return—it’s something I cultivate within myself, an ongoing relationship with all that is. You Don’t Need to Carry My Heart When we rely on others to complete our sense of love, we create a dependency that can make love feel fragile. But when we realize that love is something we can generate and hold within, it transforms. We become less focused on who or what loves us back and more on how fully we can love. I fall in love not by giving others the responsibility to carry my heart, but by trusting that I am already whole, that love is an endless resource I can share without losing any of it. This Is Me, Loving To my dear friend who asked for a love poem, I say, “Look at me. This is me loving.” I may not always be singing of a lover’s embrace, but I am always falling and flowing in love. I am moved by the world in ways that words can barely capture. Each day, I am spellbound by life’s details, held captive by the grandeur and simplicity of life, by the endless pieces I can fall for and make love of. This love is not borrowed or outsourced—it’s an unbreakable connection with life itself. This is my love story. And maybe, just maybe, that is enough. It certainly feels like that way. Love, Rose 💛I hope these thoughts mean something to you. If so, it would mean a lot to me if you take a moment to comment, share or like the post. And if you haven’t subscribed to my newsletter yet, please do. 💛 Quotes: * “You carry all the ingredients to turn your life into a garden; you have within you an infinite capacity to love.” — Hafiz * “The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” — W.B.
