Episode 10 - Time Is Not On Our Side
Forty years ago. That’s how long it’s been since some of my favorite memories, and I didn’t see it coming.
I was sitting with old high school friends, laughing about the good ole days, when it hit me how fast the time went. Then my wife and I opened a bin of old photos, and I found myself back in places I once called “just a gig.” I also found a picture that took me back to a day I’m still not proud of how it ended.
This one’s personal. It’s about slowing down enough to notice your life while you’re living it.

I looked down one day and realized I was wearing my late brother’s shoes, and it made me see that the guy I swore I’d never be like had been shaping my steps all along, from the football field to the choir stand to chasing my dreams. His faith through his final days taught me what’s truly worth imitating, and now I’m honored to keep walking in his shoes.

What does it really mean… to make it?
What exactly does “making it” even mean? Is making it getting out of the hood? Is it fame? Money? Music stardom?Being recognized? Selling out arenas? Is it finally being validated by people?
Because the truth is… a lot of us spend our whole lives chasing somebody else’s definition of success. And sometimes… while you’re busy trying to “make it”… you can slowly lose yourself trying to become what everybody else expects you to be.
And maybe that’s why this question still matters to me today:

The Puzzle Pieces
Have you ever looked back on a disappointment and realized it was actually leading you somewhere better? There were seasons of my life when I thought God had forgotten about me. Losing football. Losing direction. Watching dreams fall apart.
But looking back at 59 years of life, I realize something. God wasn't removing pieces from the puzzle. He was putting them in place. The pieces that made no sense then are some of the very things that shaped who I am today.
