Soul Shift Studio is a quiet space to notice yourself with greater compassion.
Hosted by Maggie, each episode begins with a grounding breath and unfolds through stories, conversations, and reflections on the patterns we carry, the meanings we make, and the parts of ourselves we’re still learning to see.
There are no easy answers here. Just an invitation to slow down, become curious, and perhaps notice something that was already there.
Because sometimes change doesn’t begin by trying harder. It begins by seeing more clearly.
Have you ever thought about the identities you carry—and how they might be shaping your life without you even realizing it?
Growing up in a Chinese immigrant family, being called a “good daughter” was a badge of honor. Part of me loved the recognition. But another part of me resented it, something I didn't even want to admit to myself.
In this episode, I reflect on the expectations we unconsciously attach to our identities, how they can quietly limit what we believe is possible, and what began to change when I allowed myself to question them.
Sometimes, the roles we carry aren't the problem. It's the rules we've come to believe we must follow to fulfill them.
It leaves me wondering:
What expectations might I be living by today without even recognizing them?
And what possibilities might I be closing off before I've even given myself a chance to explore them?
Perhaps we can hold our identities a little more lightly, allowing room for more of who we are.
If there's an identity you've been carrying that you're beginning to question, or a role you've never really stopped to examine, I'd love to hear your story. Reach me at hello@soul-shift-studio.com.

Ep 43 - Where Does My Power Lie?
When someone misunderstands our intentions, it's natural to want to explain ourselves. To be seen. To have them recognize that perhaps they could have handled things differently.
But what happens when our peace depends on whether they understand?
This week's reflection grew out of a question someone brought to me about a difficult situation at work. As we explored it together, I found myself returning to something I've been practicing in my own life: recognizing what is within my control, what isn't, and how to remain connected to others without abandoning myself.
An exploration of curiosity, compassion, healthy boundaries, and the freedom that comes when we no longer need someone else to change before we can find peace.
If you have a question or a story you're trying to untangle, I'd love to hear from you.

Ep 42 - The Hug
Why do other people's emotions sometimes trigger us? And what might our reactions reveal about ourselves?
In this episode of Soul Shift Studio, I share a touching story about a mother who struggled with her daughter's frustration—and how a simple hug during homework became an unexpected moment of connection.
Through our conversations, she began recognizing how her own childhood experiences shaped the way she responded to difficult emotions, not only in her daughter but also in herself.
What unfolded was a beautiful reminder that compassion and discipline don't have to be opposites. We can honor the values we've inherited while consciously choosing what we want to carry forward.
Together, we explore:
• Why other people's frustration can trigger our own reactions
• How childhood conditioning shapes our relationships
• The difference between accepting emotions and accepting behaviors
• How small moments of awareness create room for connection and choice
A question to sit with:
When someone else's emotions make you uncomfortable, are you responding to what they need—or to what their emotions are bringing up in you?
Sometimes, the smallest moments reveal the most about our inner world.
