[…] The piece is called If. Sherry DeLeese produced it for The Listening Room, an experimental radio art program on ABC. That's the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The show ran from 1988 to 2003. The listening room was like a creative sandpit. I'm going to jump in here for just two seconds. I looked this up later. Sandpit in Australia is the equivalent of a sandbox in the US. So for the Americans listening, think creative sandbox. Typically, people who made things for the listening room would be poets, audio artists, musicians, playwrights. And just anybody, though, who was interested in radio as a potential medium for making art, like what could you do with radio was the driving kind of interest of the listening room. […]
