Episode 13: Healing from the Wounds of the Past: Desiré’s Story of Faith
In this raw and powerful episode of Sounds of Salvation, Desire Jansen shares her incredible testimony of transformation, from growing up in a home filled with spiritual conflict and abuse to finding truth, grace, and redemption in Christ. Raised by an atheist father and a Catholic mother, Desire experienced a childhood marked by control, deception, and a longing for safety and love. Searching for truth as a teenager, she turned to New Age spirituality and unhealthy relationships, but God had a greater plan. Her journey took a dramatic turn when, homeless and living in her car, she encountered a Cuban pastor who led her to Christ and helped her see how she had been deceived. However, the road wasn’t easy—Desire faced heartbreak, grief, and many ups and downs as she learned to trust God’s Word and walk in His grace. Today, Desire reflects on the countless ways God revealed Himself to her, from life-changing encounters to her father’s salvation, and how she continues to grow in her understanding of His love. Her story is a testament to God’s relentless pursuit and ability to redeem even the most broken places in our lives. Episode Verse: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 Connect with Us! We’d love to hear your thoughts on this episode! Although Desiré and I differ on our perspectives of Grace and willful sinning, I thought it was important not to interrupt her testimony and acknowledge that everyone should seek their own answers by testing everything against the WORD. Sanctification and growth are a process and we must be cautious not to live like the world and try our best to live as God wants us to. Enjoy the podcast!
