Christmas Culture and Traditions in USA, Norway and Spain - Who does it BEST?
In this episode, Toni and Molly dive into how Christmas is celebrated across three very different cultures: the United States, Norway, and Spain. From over-the-top holiday decorations and Santa-fueled consumerism in the U.S., to Norway’s deep-rooted folklore and traditions like the Fjøs Nisse, to Spain’s festive celebrations that stretch all the way to January 6th with Reyes Magos, this conversation highlights how culture shapes the holiday season. They explore the contrast between modern consumerism and traditional values, touching on iconic moments like SantaCon in the US, Coca-Cola Santa in Norway, and Spain’s famous El Gordo Christmas lottery. Along the way, Toni and Molly also reflect on the emotional impact of Christmas, how expectations differ across countries, and why the holiday can mean very different things depending on where you’re celebrating. Whether you love Christmas lights, folklore, or late-season gift giving, this episode offers a fun and thoughtful look at how the world celebrates Christmas — and asks the big question: has consumerism overtaken tradition, or can the two coexist?
