Do you have a child or someone you know with unique needs? Do you want to share your story with us? SPEDories podcast is hosted by Huyen and Bailey, both Special Education Administrators. Together, they have a combined 20 years of Special Education experience in both public and private school settings. Navigating Special Education in schools can be confusing, tricky and hard, but you're not alone. Listen in while we interview parents, teachers, attorneys and more and share some of our favorite stories working in our field.
After a six-month hiatus, Spedories is finally back for an update and it feels so good to catch up. In this episode, Bailey and Huyen sit down for a more personal, honest conversation about everything that’s happened while they were away. Huyen shares a special update from her personal life, opening up about some big changes she’s been navigating, while Bailey talks about preparing for marriage and all the excitement (and nerves) that come with this new chapter.
They also spend time looking ahead, chatting about what they’re most excited for, both in their own lives and when it comes to work and professional growth.
While they’ll be taking a little more time away for weddings and maternity leave, this isn’t goodbye, just a “see you soon!"

Not Every Path Is Easy: Emily's Journey Through Special Education
Episode 12 of Season 3! In this heartfelt episode, we sit down with Emily, a devoted mom of four, who opens up about her family’s journey raising a child who is deaf and hard of hearing. Emily shares the moment she first learned of her child’s deafness and the support her family received through Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) services. She also speaks candidly about the challenges they faced transitioning into their local school district, an experience that was far from easy.
With honesty, Emily walks us through the ups and downs of advocating for her child’s special education needs, navigating difficult situations, and pushing for the services and support every child deserves. While we know not every situation is perfect in the school setting, we believe every story matters and every parent and educator should feel empowered to share their experiences.
Emily’s journey is eye-opening, a reminder of the resilience of parents and the importance of building systems that truly serve children with unique needs. Whether you’re a parent, educator, or advocate, this conversation will leave you with valuable insights and renewed empathy for families working to ensure their children thrive!
