About SPFL Sighs and Aberdeen Lows: The Scottish Football Podcast
The Scottish football podcast for supporters who enjoy the game as much as the debate.
Weekly previews, reviews and discussion covering every corner of the SPFL, with Aberdeen FC always close to the heart.
Honest. Balanced. Unfiltered.
Another weekend of Scottish football and plenty to get stuck into on SPFL Sighs & Aberdeen Lows.
Celtic come unstuck against Falkirk, Hibs get one over on Edinburgh rivals Hearts, and there’s plenty of talking points across Scottish football.
The Dons exit the Premier Sports Cup at the semi final stage. Scott joins us with the Rangers perspective, while Gav and I work our way through the weekend’s action, discuss the big results and inevitably spend a fair bit of time trying to make sense of Aberdeen.
We also update the Race to 50, which remains 7–5 in Gav’s favour after neither of us managed a correct score, along with the latest instalment of the Betting Kitty.

BONUS: A Former Don's View — Aberdeen's Decline & Giving Youth a Chance | SPFL Sighs & Aberdeen Lows
Something a little different on SPFL Sighs & Aberdeen Lows this week!
We’re joined by a special contribution from Scott Morrison, a former professional footballer who played for Aberdeen, Dunfermline Athletic and Ross County, offering his perspective on the contrasting fortunes of Falkirk and Aberdeen.
Scott reflects on watching his former club Dunfermline face John McGlynn’s Falkirk in the Championship, the impressive progress Falkirk have made since, and what Aberdeen might learn from their approach.
We also discuss the problems at Pittodrie, the direction of the club, and whether it’s time to give more of Aberdeen’s younger players an opportunity to show what they can do.
An interesting perspective from someone who’s experienced Scottish football from inside the dressing room.
A short bonus episode featuring plenty of football chat, a few uncomfortable questions and, inevitably, a few more Aberdeen sighs!
Another bruising week for Aberdeen, another impressive result for Falkirk, and a massive weekend of cup football awaits.
After the Dons’ latest defeat at Pittodrie, we ask some uncomfortable questions about Stephen Robinson, recruitment and the direction of the club. Just how much has Aberdeen’s squad regressed since that unforgettable Scottish Cup triumph over Celtic only 17 months ago?
Gavin joins with his thoughts, while we’re also delighted to welcome a contribution from former Aberdeen, Dunfermline and Ross County player Scott, who offers his perspective on John McGlynn and the impressive job he’s doing at Falkirk.
Elsewhere, we review a dramatic round of Premiership action, including Hearts and Rangers sharing the points, Dundee United’s excellent draw at Celtic Park, and late heartbreak for Hibs and Motherwell.
Then it’s on to Hampden, as we preview the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals: Hearts v Hibs and Rangers v Aberdeen.
Plus, the Race to 50 moves to 7–5 in Gavin’s favour, and there’s another £5 betting kitty selection to contemplate.
Plenty of sighs. Not many reasons for optimism at Pittodrie. But there’s always Hampden…
