   Spiritual Naturopathy: Allergies

This episode is about: Allergies and how and why they occur. Understanding cause and affect leads to insights which in turn can lead to cure. Hi, and welcome to another episode of Spiritual Naturopathy! Have you ever wondered what you're sensitive to and why? It doesn’t matter if it’s an allergen, like the pollen in the air here in Texas, where we have cedar fever, mold, oak pollen, and all sorts of stuff. Those can cause allergies. Another thing in the air that can cause allergies is animal dander, like from cats and dogs. Some people are allergic to both! Another way we get allergies is through contact with things. For example, if you touch poison ivy or poison oak, you’re going to get a rash. People can also be allergic to latex, or even certain metals. My wife can’t wear jewelry made of silver or other metals because it gives her a rash. It’s tough to buy her jewelry, but I can’t use that as an excuse. Allergies happen when your body reacts too strongly to something, and your immune system can’t handle it. You can also have allergies from eating certain foods or even from using products like cosmetics. If you use something like makeup, it goes into your skin and into your bloodstream, so it should be safe enough to eat. If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin. Sometimes, we take medicines that might cause allergies, but here's the thing: when you see a commercial saying, "Don’t take this if you’re allergic to any of the ingredients," how do you know you’re allergic unless you've already tried it? It’s a strange situation, but the point is, allergies are often about how your body reacts to things, and sometimes it's about strengthening your immune system. One way to deal with allergies, especially airborne ones, is to try local honey and pollen. You start with a tiny amount, like one or two grains, and slowly increase it. This can help your body get used to the allergens around you. I even spoke with a Senator once who said he cured his allergies by eating bee pollen! Now, allergies can be linked to how stressed out you are. When you’re stressed, your immune system gets weaker, and that can make allergies worse. So, it’s important to manage your stress to help your body handle things better. If you have allergies, it’s a sign that your body needs some help. When you have symptoms, like a rash, think about where the rash is on your body. For example, if you get a rash on your arms, your arms help you either bring things toward you or push things away. What might be bothering you? If your eyes water, that means you can’t see clearly. Sometimes this happens in life when you’re confused or unsure about something. A runny nose can mean that you have doubts about yourself or what’s going on around you. Asthma is another common symptom of allergies, and it can happen because of both physical and emotional issues. Asthma affects your lungs, making it hard to breathe. This can be a sign that you’re struggling with doubt or lack of faith in yourself. Nutritionally, you can support your immune system by eating vitamins like Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Zinc. These are all important for staying healthy. Vitamin A helps your immune system fight off bad things in your body, and it’s also important for your vision—seeing clearly, both physically and symbolically. Vitamin C helps your body stay strong and protect itself, while Zinc is important for your health in many ways, like helping your body use energy. I write about all of this in my books, and you can find them online if you’re interested. In the end, it’s all about understanding yourself and your body. Question things, look for patterns, and think about how your body reacts to the world around you. Understanding and applying this knowledge will help you grow stronger, and you’ll become the person you want to be, not just what others expect you to be.

   Spiritual Naturopathy: Candida & Allergies

This episode is about: Candida and allergies are a part of the hypoglycemia issue. These are all brought about by stress. What to do about all if it is covered. Alright, welcome back! Last week, we talked about hypoglycemia, Candida, and allergies. We covered hypoglycemia pretty well, including the nutrients you need and some symptoms. Remember, some symptoms of hypoglycemia are similar to Candida, but there are a few differences. Now, let’s talk about Candida. Candida is a type of yeast that lives in your body, especially in your throat. This is why babies sometimes get thrush, which is a condition where Candida grows too much. When this happens, it means the baby’s immune system is too weak to stop Candida from growing. Adults can also have Candida problems, and one common sign is sinus issues. If you have sinus congestion, it could be Candida. To help clear this up, you could try using a neti pot with golden seal root. You can either buy it as a tincture or make your own tea by boiling golden seal root in water. Candida is natural in your body, but things like antibiotics can cause it to grow out of control. Antibiotics kill both bad and good bacteria in your stomach. The good bacteria are important because they help make vitamins for your body. When antibiotics wipe out these bacteria, Candida can start to grow in their place. If you have a “leaky gut,” the Candida can even spread into your bloodstream, which makes you feel really sick. To fight Candida, one of the best things you can do is take probiotics, which are good bacteria that help your body. You can drink liquid probiotics to flood your body with good bacteria and prevent Candida from growing too much. After you take antibiotics, it’s important to take probiotics to protect your body from Candida. There are also herbs like Golden Seal Root and Oregon Grape Root that can kill Candida. Golden Seal is really powerful because it also lowers blood sugar and works as an antibiotic, antifungal, and more. You can also use other teas like black walnut tea or oregano oil to help kill Candida. Another way to help fight Candida is to support your immune system. This includes taking vitamins like Vitamin C and B vitamins, and using herbs like ashwagandha and licorice. Eating healthy food and drinking clean water are also important. Candida can sometimes make you feel tired and unmotivated, which is a sign your body needs help. Emotional stress from childhood, like having a bossy parent or bullying, can also affect your health later in life and contribute to things like hypoglycemia and Candida. If you ever feel overwhelmed, it could be because your body is holding onto old emotional stress. Let’s quickly touch on allergies. If you have allergies, it means your body is sensitive to certain things, like pollen or food. Food allergies are easier to avoid because you can just stay away from the food, but it’s also helpful to understand why you’re allergic to it. For example, if a child once saw their parents argue and food got thrown at them, they might later become allergic to that food. Airborne allergies are harder to control, but they also show that your immune system is reacting to something it sees as an attack. In both allergies and immune system issues, the body’s response is often related to emotional stress. If you're always feeling sensitive or overwhelmed, your body might get sick as a way to express that. To get better, it’s important to pay attention to your emotions and figure out what’s causing your body to react. So, take care of your body and mind. Remember, being healthy is about balancing your physical and emotional well-being. If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask. Take care and be well!

   Spiritual Naturopathy: Hypoglycemia

This episode is about: Low blood sugar, hypoglycemia and its related conditions. And, of course, what you can do to fix it. Hi, and welcome back to another session of Spirit 20 Tropathy! If you have any questions about anything I talk about, whether it’s from a past show or a podcast, feel free to reach out. Like I mentioned last week, I’m not sure what to call these – maybe "discussions," but it’s mostly one-sided since you have to ask me questions! So, if you’ve got something on your mind, or want to discuss anything, email me at Michael383@me.com. You can also check out my websites: Michael’s Health for nutrition and lifestyle tips, and Michael’s Spiritual Health for emotional and spiritual guidance. Today, we’re going to talk about hypoglycemia, Candida Albicans, and allergies. I call them "kissing cousins" because if you have one, you might have the other two. Sometimes, hypoglycemia is the main issue, sometimes it’s Candida, and other times it’s allergies. These three conditions are connected in many ways. In fact, Candida and hypoglycemia can also cause chronic fatigue and even fibromyalgia. We'll dive deeper into that today. Let’s start with allergies. There are food allergies and airborne allergies (like pollen and dust). Both types are caused by proteins your body reacts to as if they are harmful. This can overload your immune system, causing an allergic reaction. In severe cases, like with peanuts, it can even cause anaphylactic shock, which can be deadly. Now, let’s talk about hypoglycemia. If you or someone you know wakes up feeling tired, irritable, or miserable, that could be a sign. If they can’t function until they have coffee or some sugar, it might be hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia happens when your blood sugar is low, and it can cause headaches, brain fog, and a lack of energy. Your body needs sugar (or glucose) to function. When you eat sugar, your body turns it into glucose. Without enough glucose, you can feel weak and even depressed. A funny example is from the Snickers commercial where they show people getting cranky when they’re hungry. Around 3 p.m., many people with hypoglycemia start feeling tired and are looking for something to boost their energy. Snickers picked up on this and made ads for that 3 p.m. pick-me-up. But things are getting worse as more people rely on sugary drinks and caffeine for energy. I heard a crazy story about a company that sells energy drinks: one of their cans fell and exploded, eating a hole in the cement! That's how powerful some of these drinks are! The cause of hypoglycemia is often adrenal exhaustion, which is caused by stress. You may have heard me talk about the adrenal glands before. They’re responsible for your body’s “fight or flight” response. When they’re overworked, it can affect your blood sugar, immune system, and overall energy. Stress can come from all sorts of things – work, relationships, or even just feeling overwhelmed. When you feel stressed, your body needs more nutrients to deal with it. To help your adrenal glands, I recommend taking vitamins like pantothenic acid (a B vitamin) and vitamin C. Ashwagandha and licorice are great herbs to support the adrenals too. Licorice, in particular, is good but should be used in moderation because too much can raise blood pressure. Let’s look at hypoglycemia from a symbolic perspective. Stress is often the root cause. There’s physical stress from exercise, and emotional stress from situations in life. Have you ever felt your heart race when a police car pulls up behind you? That’s your body’s response to stress. Stress can use up your vitamins and minerals, which is why it's important to take care of your body’s nutrition.

   Spiritual Naturopathy: Colds & Flus

This episode is about: Protecting our selves when we are sick and under a lot of stress as well. Welcome to another episode of Spiritual Naturopathy! I’m Michael. Last time, we talked about colds, flus, and pneumonia, and how they can make us feel afraid and sick. We left off talking about symptoms like congestion. Today, we’ll focus on how to protect ourselves and feel stronger, especially when our body is under stress, like when we’re sick. One of the first ways to stay healthy is by taking care of your immune system. A strong immune system helps you avoid getting sick and recover faster when you do. It also helps slow down the aging process because it helps remove damaged cells from your body. There are three nutrients I love for boosting the immune system: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Zinc. Vitamin A is my favorite because it’s great for your skin and helps build strong immune defenses. Vitamin C helps your immune system fight off illness and also helps your body remove toxins. Zinc supports both your skin and immune system too. I also recommend a nutrient called Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5). It’s great for your adrenal glands, which are important when you’re under stress. Stress can weaken your immune system, so taking Pantothenic acid can help keep your adrenal glands working well. Besides vitamins, I like to use herbs to support the immune system. One I recommend is Golden Seal. It’s great for cleaning out bacteria and is helpful for things like acne. But be careful when using it inside your body, because it can also kill friendly bacteria. If you take Golden Seal, make sure to take probiotics afterward to restore your good bacteria. Another herb I recommend is Echinacea, which helps boost your immune system and cleanses your lymphatic system. Other herbs like Slippery Elm, Fenugreek, and Comfrey can help clear mucus from your lungs. These herbs are not harsh like some others, so they can help you get rid of mucus without making you cough a lot. If you’re sick, it’s also a good idea to cut down on dairy, because it can make your body produce more mucus. Mucus can get stuck in your digestive system and prevent nutrients from being absorbed properly, so less dairy can help your body heal faster. Now, let’s talk about congestion. When you’re sick, your lungs and sinuses can fill with mucus. Symbolically, congestion can mean there’s a lack of faith in yourself. If you’re feeling congested, try to think about what doubts or fears you may have in your life. Recognizing where doubt comes from can help you release it and heal faster. Another symptom to watch for is fever. A fever often means there’s anger or stress inside. If you or someone else has a fever, try to figure out what’s causing the anger. It could be stress, fear, or doubt, and recognizing it can help you heal. Finally, remember that healing is about understanding the root cause of your illness. Illness often starts with emotional conflicts that show up as physical symptoms. By understanding these emotional connections and using symbols to help guide you, you can better understand how to take care of your health. Thanks for listening, and I hope you’ve found these tips helpful! Stay healthy and take time for yourself.

   Spiritual Naturopathy: Fear

This episode is about: The emotional effects of fear on personality and the body. What can be done to nullify it’s affects. Welcome to another episode of Spiritual Naturopathy! Last week, we talked about Alzheimer's disease, and looking back, I feel like I didn’t do a great job explaining it. The truth is, I haven’t had any Alzheimer's patients, and I like to feel confident in what I talk about. If I don’t know enough about something, I’ll find someone who does. Every day, I post a thought on Facebook, often inspired by books I read, including 8,790 Words of Wisdom. Some of the quotes are insightful, and some are just plain bad advice. When I see something I disagree with, I speak up. Similarly, when I come across something I like, I try to explain it more. The other night, I was lying in bed and thought to myself, everyone is smarter than I am. We all know something the other person doesn’t, and we can learn from one another. That got me thinking about fear—something that affects us all. Big Pharma uses fear in its advertising, especially if you're over 50. They try to make you believe that one out of every three people your age will get shingles or herpes or pneumonia. This fear pushes you to go out and get a vaccine or treatment, which is exactly what they want. Fear weakens your mind, and we all experience it in one form or another. The way they use fear to control us is wrong. One of my favorite scenes from the book Dune shows a character facing his fear. A wise woman tells him, Fear is the mind killer. I think that’s powerful. Fear messes with your mind, and the people behind these ads know how to use it. But who are "they"? The pharma companies, for one. But there’s also the broader system of human teachings designed to control you—these teachings come from man, not God. We see it in so many aspects of life—like how society says men are dominant and women are submissive. That’s wrong, too. We are all equal, as the Bible says. Another false idea is that strength is more important than weakness. There are many kinds of strength, and I’m focused on building quiet strength, which brings personal power. You don’t need to brag about it; it speaks for itself. Quiet strength helps you accept everyone and feel love for all. In today’s world, people are led to believe that doctors know everything, but that’s not true. Doctors are good at emergency care, but they often don’t know much about nutrition, and that’s where true healing happens. The drugs they prescribe often just block symptoms or cause new problems. For example, if you watch a TV commercial about medicine, you'll hear a list of awful side effects. Why? Because those drugs don’t address the root of the problem—they just mask it. Now, let’s talk about getting sick. Many people get sick because of what's going on in their lives. When they feel uncertain or full of doubt, their bodies show it through sickness. For example, if you're having lung or sinus problems, it's often tied to fear or doubt. When you feel stressed or uncertain, it can affect your health. To deal with sinus congestion, you can use a Neti pot. It’s a simple tool you can buy at a health store to clean out your sinuses. Add a little golden seal root to the water to help clear out any bacteria or infection. For sore throats, try garlic and honey. It might sting a little, but it helps your body heal.

   Spiritual Naturopathy: Alzheimers

This episode is about: The disease Alzheimers is discussed. Additionally other causes of common situations are examined to provide a greater insight to the true causes of diseases. Welcome to another episode of Spiritual Naturopathy. I'm your host, Michael. This week, we’re going to talk about Alzheimer's. But before we dive into that, I want to share something that happened this week. You may or may not know this, but I have a personal Facebook page under my name, Michael Schwartz, in addition to the Spiritual Naturopathy page. On the Spiritual Naturopathy page, I encourage you to post symbols, ideas, or patterns you discover. You can also ask for help if you need it. It’s another way for us to communicate. Of course, if you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to email me at michael383@me.com. So, here’s what happened on Facebook this week: I posted that if you don’t learn to forgive, it could make you sick. Someone commented, asking if emotions might cause cancer. They wanted to know what percent of cancer is caused by emotions. My immediate response was 100%. I truly believe that every physical condition comes from emotional conflict. The person replied, saying that genetics and the environment can also cause cancer. And that’s true to some extent. But let’s break it down. For example, why is it that in a classroom where a cold or flu is going around, not every single kid gets sick? Or, in a house with seven people, only one person may get cancer? Environment does play a role, but it’s not the whole story. Let’s talk about emotional conflict for a minute. If someone is constantly angry, frustrated, or holding onto guilt, these emotions can affect their environment. They might end up in toxic situations, like a stressful job or around negative people. And toxins aren’t just chemicals; negative thoughts can be toxic, too. Sometimes, you can be around people—whether family, friends, or strangers—who always complain, nothing is ever good, and it can slowly drain your energy and erode your confidence. This can affect your health over time. Now, as for genetics: yes, you might have a genetic tendency toward certain conditions. But just because someone has a genetic risk doesn’t mean they’ll automatically get sick. Your mind controls your body, and if you don’t listen to the signs, your mind will find ways to get your attention. That’s why it’s important to understand how your thoughts shape your health. Now, let’s talk about Alzheimer's. This is a terrible disease, and it’s often linked to dementia. But what’s interesting is that Alzheimer’s actually starts about 10 years before any symptoms show up. For a decade, a person may not have any signs of the disease. In the past, Alzheimer's was mainly seen in people over 65, but now doctors are seeing it in people as young as 40. This is really concerning. In fact, there’s a rise in cancer, especially colorectal cancer, among people in their 20s and 30s, which is also linked to diet and lifestyle. Speaking of diet, some people think it’s normal to only have a bowel movement a couple of times a week, but that’s actually not healthy. You should be having one every day. If you’re not, it could mean your diet isn’t right. When waste sits in your colon, your body reabsorbs the toxins, which can harm your cells. This can even affect your brain health and contribute to Alzheimer’s. Amyloid plaques, which are sticky proteins, build up in the brain of people with Alzheimer's. These plaques cause the brain cells to stop communicating, and over time, they kill brain tissue. This is why people with Alzheimer's may have problems with memory and thinking. The point is, everything in your body is connected, and your thoughts, emotions, and lifestyle choices all play a role in your health. To prevent or manage Alzheimer’s, it’s important to take care of your mind and body, and that starts with healthy thoughts, a healthy diet, and managing stress.

   Spiritual Naturopathy: Cancer 3

This episode is about: A continuation of how to deal with cancer and all health conditions Welcome again to Spiritual Naturopathy! I'm your host, Michael, and today we're going to finish what we started last week. Last week, I talked about some of the common causes of cancer, and gave you an idea of what they represent emotionally. Today, we’ll continue from where we left off and talk about how to heal not just cancer, but any health issue you may face. Last week, we covered cancers of the bladder, breast, colon, uterus, and kidneys, and started to talk about leukemia. We will finish discussing leukemia today and look at some ways to heal, not just by using the mind and visualization, but also through nutrition, understanding our emotions, and finding out what’s causing discomfort in our lives. I’ve said before that dissatisfaction can lead to more dissatisfaction, like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Never make a move out of frustration or dissatisfaction. This show is about helping you, so if you have questions, feel free to write to me at Michael383@mead.com. Let’s talk more about cancer. As I mentioned in past episodes, emotional issues like anger, resentment, frustration, and guilt can cause cancer. When you look at which areas of the body are affected, you can see how these emotions play a part. We started talking about leukemia last week, and leukemia is a cancer of the blood where there’s too many white blood cells. Interestingly, some medicines are being made to boost white blood cells, but in leukemia, the person is hurting themselves from the inside. Cancer can slowly “eat you up,” and that’s why it’s easy to see the emotional cause. Leukemia, in particular, is connected to anger, doubt, fear, and lack of self-acceptance. It’s about how people may feel about themselves or things they beat themselves up about. The good news is that with the right nutrition and mindset, leukemia can be stopped. Once you understand the emotional cause and beliefs that support it, you can let go of them and begin to heal. In my book Letting Go, I talk about two important things: Why do you hold onto things, and how do they serve you? Understanding that helps you release what no longer serves you. Next, let’s talk about lung cancer. This cancer isn’t just from smoking, but can also be caused by being around secondhand smoke. Any lung or breathing issues, including mucus and congestion, are linked to a lack of faith in oneself. Air is symbolic of spirit, and if you aren’t breathing well, it reflects a lack of self-belief. Skin issues like acne, eczema, or psoriasis can be signs that someone is very sensitive, especially to how they look. Skin cancer, like melanoma, is often connected to someone who gets offended easily or has a hard time accepting their image. If you are dealing with skin issues, it can help to ask yourself: Why are you so sensitive? What triggers that sensitivity? Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is linked to the lymphatic system, which helps cleanse the body and supports the immune system. People with this cancer often can’t let go of the past and keep blaming themselves for things that have happened. It’s similar to leukemia, but with less harsh anger. Next, pancreatic cancer: the pancreas helps break down food and regulate digestion. If someone has pancreatic cancer, it’s because they can’t break down their thoughts or emotions, which means they’re holding on to unhealthy beliefs. It’s a sign of being unable to regulate or process what’s going on in their mind. Prostate cancer is on the rise in men. Some people say don’t treat it, and some have healed it by drinking carrot juice every day. Carrots are high in beta-carotene, which turns into vitamin A. Vitamin A is great for the immune system and helps fight cancer. Thyroid cancer is another issue we’re seeing more of. The thyroid helps regulate many body functions, so when it’s affected, it’s a sign of imbalance or difficulty in regulating emotions or actions.

   Spiritual Naturopathy: Cancer 2

This episode is about: Treating cancer from a dietary and supplemental approach. Michael shared insights about boosting your immune system and tackling health issues like cancer by understanding what you eat. Here are the key takeaways: Proteolytic Enzymes: These are natural helpers in your body that break down proteins. Some proteins, like mutated or excessive ones, can lead to problems, including cancer. They should be taken in between meals and must dissolve in the intestines, where they work best. The Role of Diet: Too much meat or protein creates acid in the body, which is a friendly environment for illnesses like cancer. Chemicals in foods can damage genes, leading to more health problems. This Week's Focus: Emotional Causes of Illness Michael explains that emotions like anger, frustration, resentment, and guilt can harm your health over time. Here’s how to understand and manage them: Anger Anger can explode quickly, causing harm to relationships and even your own health. Activity: Write a list of what makes you angry and why. Keep asking yourself "why" until you discover the root cause. Resentment Often comes from comparing yourself to others or feeling taken for granted. Solution: Focus on what you have and find gratitude in your life. Frustration & Guilt These emotions also eat away at your peace. Writing them down and asking "why" can help you see patterns and find ways to let them go. The Link Between Food, Mind, and Body Michael stresses the importance of understanding what you put into your body and what it symbolizes: White Flour: Stripped of nutrients—it's empty calories. Sugar: An "empty promise" that tastes good but offers no real value. Salt: Overuse dehydrates and harms your body. Pharmaceutical Drugs: While helpful at times, they often mask symptoms rather than address the root cause. Goal: Nourish your body with natural, whole foods and work with your body’s healing powers. Your Homework Emotion Journal: Make a two-column list for anger, frustration, resentment, and guilt. Left Column: What causes these feelings? Right Column: Why does it bother you? Keep asking "why" until you get to the core. Diet Check: Look at your daily meals. Are they filled with foods that help or hurt? Start swapping out unhealthy options for nourishing ones. Final Thought Healing begins with understanding yourself—your body, your mind, and your emotions. Keep learning and questioning, and you’ll find the truth that sets you free.

   Spiritual Naturopathy: Cancer 1

This episode is about: The beginning sessions on cancer. The causes and emotional issues that can lead to cancer. Welcome to Spiritual Naturopathy! Today, we're diving into one of the major causes of death worldwide: cancer. There are seven main causes of cancer, which we’ll be covering. Some causes are physical, while others are emotional. Last week, we talked about how carrying extra weight puts pressure on your heart and joints. The body has to work harder to pump blood when there's extra weight, which can lead to cardiovascular disease. So, managing weight is really important for your heart health. Now, let’s talk about cancer. First, we have three physical causes and four emotional causes. Let’s start with the physical ones: Chemicals – These come from the food we eat, the air we breathe, and even the products we put on our skin. Processed foods, non-organic produce, and some cosmetics all have chemicals that can harm our cells. Free Radicals – These are unstable molecules that damage cells by stealing electrons. Free radicals can come from chemicals we encounter and even natural body processes. They cause cell damage and make it harder for the body to repair itself. Viruses, Funguses, and Germs – Some viruses and other germs can affect our cells in ways that lead to uncontrolled growth, which can turn into cancer. Now, let’s talk about the emotional causes of cancer: Anger Frustration Resentment Guilt These emotions put stress on our bodies, and over time, this stress can lead to illness. Negative emotions often create physical reactions in our bodies, which is why managing our feelings is so important. So, how can we protect ourselves from these risks? Diet – Eating a diet full of organic fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help. Organic foods are free of many harmful chemicals. Also, try to limit foods that make the body acidic, like meat and dairy, since cancer cells thrive in acidic environments. Eating a lot of plant-based foods can help keep your body balanced and healthy. Exercise – Physical activity is a great way to reduce cancer risk. Walking daily, for example, can strengthen the cardiovascular system and helps get oxygen to cells, which cancer cells don’t like. Build Your Immune System – The immune system fights off germs and other invaders. Getting enough vitamins A, C, and E, as well as minerals like zinc, can strengthen your body. Herbs like echinacea and certain mushrooms are also known to boost immunity. Antioxidants – Vitamins A, C, and E are antioxidants that protect cells from free radical damage. Lastly, remember to be mindful of what’s going into your body and mind. A healthy life starts with good choices about food, exercise, and managing emotions. Thank you for being here today, and remember: take care of your body, because it’s the only one you have!

    Spiritual Naturopathy: Cholesterol

This episode is about: Finishes up on cholesterol metabolism. What cold hands and feet, ringing in the ears, and what some other issues indicate. Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing great and had a nice week. Today, we’re going to finish talking about cholesterol, something we touched on a couple of sessions ago. First, let’s talk a bit about health and what symptoms like cold hands and feet can mean. Usually, I’m pretty general when it comes to diets and specific foods, but I do think it’s important to have a quick fix for relief when needed. When people are in pain or discomfort, it’s harder for them to stay positive or think clearly. Pain affects how we see and respond to things. Let's look at cold hands. Hands represent how we "handle" things, and cold hands might mean there’s a lack of warmth or energy. Blood represents the “spirit” or “life force” that flows through us, so poor circulation to the hands might suggest a lack of faith or confidence in handling things with kindness and compassion. Cold feet can also be a sign of poor circulation. Symbolically, our feet represent our direction, so “cold feet” can mean there’s a fear of moving forward. Maybe you feel stuck, unable to push ahead. Take a closer look at your life goals, both big and small, and see if there’s something holding you back. Ringing in the ears is another sign of poor circulation. It can be annoying, but if you think of it symbolically, ears represent our ability to hear truth, both from others and ourselves. Ringing might mean that you’re either not listening to yourself or that you’re hearing things that bother you. Hair loss can also be related to poor circulation. Hair represents strength, like the story of Samson and Delilah. But strength is more than just physical—it’s about how you feel on the inside. Now, here are a few natural ways to help lower cholesterol. Instead of relying on medications like statins, you could try nutrients like choline, inositol, lecithin, and niacin. Choline represents inner strength, which helps you face life’s challenges with confidence. Inositol symbolizes integrity, helping you approach things with honesty. Together, choline and inositol work to make lecithin, which protects our cells by helping to break down fats so they can be removed from the body. Niacin is another helpful nutrient, although it can cause a “niacin flush” where you feel warm and your skin turns red for a bit. Niacin helps open blood vessels, improving blood flow to your hands and feet. This openness also helps us see and hear things more clearly, both literally and symbolically. As we wrap up, remember to start noticing symbols in your life. Listen to what your body is telling you and look for signs in your daily surroundings. By being mindful of these messages, you can understand yourself better, which is the key to feeling balanced and healthy. Thanks for joining me today on Spiritual Naturopathy. Spiritual Naturopathy: Diet & Stress

This episode is about: Dietary considerations as well as how stress affects the body and what can be done to minimize affect. Alright, welcome back! Today, we have a special guest with us, Dr. Susan Smith Jones. She’s here to talk with us about healthy eating for a strong heart and better health. But before we dive in, I want to mention a few quick things and share some recent listener questions. First off, thanks to those who’ve sent in messages saying they enjoy the show – I really appreciate hearing that! Because this is a new show, your feedback helps a lot. And feel free to let me know what topics you’d like to hear about in the future. One listener asked me to explain the "negative feedback system" because I might’ve rushed through it last time. So, here’s a quick breakdown. The negative feedback system helps regulate things in your body, like blood pressure. For example, when pressure in your arteries goes up, nerve endings there send a message to your brain. The brain responds by sending signals to your heart and blood vessels to relax, which brings your blood pressure down. Similar processes happen with your digestive system and thyroid too. It’s all about your body adjusting to keep things balanced. Another listener asked if stress can ever be a good thing. Turns out, it can! There’s something called "eustress," which is a positive kind of stress that can motivate us or help us grow. But remember, even if stress feels positive, it can still impact your body. That’s why managing stress is important for health. Lastly, I often talk about "symbols" on this show – these can be objects or images that represent deeper meanings in our lives. Someone reminded me that I used to say, "Don’t overthink it." Often, our first impression of a symbol is what resonates most, so try not to get too caught up in analyzing every detail. Alright, now let’s get to today’s topic. Dr. Susan Smith Jones is with us, and she’s an expert in nutrition. Susan, thank you for being here. Could you start by sharing some diet tips for a healthy heart? Susan: Absolutely! A few top heart-healthy foods are oatmeal, salmon (for those who eat fish), avocados, olive oil, nuts like walnuts and almonds, leafy greens like spinach, and even berries. Green tea and hibiscus tea are also fantastic – especially hibiscus, which can help lower blood pressure. Small choices like adding these foods to your meals can make a big difference! Host: That sounds great. I actually have oatmeal almost every morning! Now, let’s talk about stress. How can our listeners manage it better? Susan: Managing stress is so important. Here are my top tips: exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and consider adding a few minutes of meditation each day. Deep breathing is another quick way to calm your mind and body. And remember to enjoy some laughs! Laughter truly is the best medicine. Host: Fantastic advice, Susan. Also, I know some people struggle with sleep. Are there specific nutrients that help? Susan: Definitely. Look for calcium and magnesium – these are natural relaxants and can help you sleep better. Herbs like valerian and hops are also known for their calming effects. Host: Great tips, Susan! And for those interested in more, check out Susan’s website, susan smithjones.com, where she shares monthly health tips.

    Spiritual Naturopathy: Cardio

This episode is about: Tips for staying healthy and dealing with health problems. Hi everyone. Today, I’m going to share some advice on staying healthy and dealing with health problems. I want to help you understand how our mind and body are connected, and how we can find ways to feel better. I don’t have a set plan on what I’ll say, but I’ll share ideas as we go. This week, we’ll talk about the heart since heart disease is the number one cause of death. Last week, we talked about how diseases can come from thoughts and emotions. I believe every illness is connected to a conflict or stress in our minds, which shows up in our bodies. If you want to understand more about how your specific health issue may connect to your emotions, I have a book called Disease Symbology Handbook that explains this more. If you have any questions, just ask! The first step to getting healthy is understanding your problem. We all have habits, or patterns, that keep showing up in our lives. Sometimes, small things—like stubbing your toe or losing your wallet—are signs from your mind. Your brain is constantly trying to help you by sending you clues, or symbols, in dreams or daily life. Recognizing these patterns is important. For example, I love dogs, but I was once bitten by one, so dogs can make me feel nervous. If I see a dog and start feeling scared, I know something is bothering me. That’s a signal to pay attention and find what’s causing fear in my life. You can learn from symbols like this too, by noticing how things affect you. Now, let’s talk about the heart. The heart represents our emotions. Heart problems may mean someone has strong feelings that they’re struggling to handle. There are ways to take care of your heart, like getting enough of certain nutrients—CoQ10, unsaturated fats, and vitamins. For example, taking niacin can help with circulation and even make hands and feet warmer by improving blood flow. Next, let’s talk about blood pressure. High blood pressure is often due to stress, which is how we respond to what’s happening around us. When we’re stressed, our bodies lose important nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and B vitamins, which makes things worse. Stress also puts pressure on the heart and weakens the immune system, which can make us sick. Finally, circulation is how oxygen moves through our blood to feed our cells, including our brains. Cold hands or feet are a sign of poor circulation, which can mean we’re doubting ourselves. Blood carries oxygen, which is a symbol of spirit and life. So, taking care of our circulation can help keep our minds and bodies strong. If you want to learn more or need health products, visit my website. And if you have questions, write them down and bring them to our next meeting. Thank you for listening, and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.

    Spiritual Naturopathy: Introduction

Welcome to Spiritual Naturopathy! I'm Michael Schwartz, and I'm excited to have you here. Today, I want to give you a bit of background on what we’ll be covering in this series and how we'll approach it. A key idea we’ll focus on is “having eyes to see,” which will make more sense as we dive into the topics. First, let’s talk about what “spiritual naturopathy” means. When I say "spiritual," I’m talking about the emotional and spiritual self. And "naturopathy" means following the path of nature to bring the body back into balance and good health. Unlike some naturopaths, I focus on basics—giving the body what it needs so it can heal itself. Throughout our sessions, I’ll share new ideas to help you think in different ways, question beliefs, and even ask questions if you’d like. Learning more about yourself helps you grow, and I hope to be a part of that journey. Our first step is understanding that all the conditions in our lives start in the mind. What we see outside is a result of what we expect inside. There’s a teaching from Jesus that says, “Know what is before your eyes, and all the mysteries will be revealed.” Many of life’s big questions—like “Why am I here?” and “What’s my purpose?”—can become clearer once we understand where we are and begin to really "see" our life. In these sessions, I’ll teach you ways to develop this skill of “seeing” and “hearing” more clearly. It helps you recognize patterns, behaviors, and symbols, all of which connect to how your mind communicates with you. Let’s also remember that our mind has great power. It creates our reality based on our needs and expectations. Everything around us is made of energy—positive and negative charges attract or repel. So, we are always either drawing in or pushing away experiences based on what we expect. Sometimes we think negative experiences “just happen,” but they actually reflect our own beliefs. For example, if you face a health issue, consider that your mind may be creating this as a response to something deeper. We’ll explore top health challenges in society and discuss how to address them through diet, emotions, and symbolic meaning. We’ll also talk about stress. Stress often comes from how we respond to what we see and hear. For example, if a police car suddenly appears behind you, your heart may race and your stomach feels uneasy. This reaction is not just physical; it’s connected to how we view authority. You might even wonder, “Why am I bringing this authority into my life right now?” Learning to see these patterns can give you insight into what’s truly going on. Our diet is another key focus. I recommend a realistic approach: 60% raw foods, 30% cooked, and 10% "junk." The reason for the 10% junk is to prevent feelings of resentment, which can actually undermine the benefits of a healthy diet. Allowing a little flexibility helps keep the whole family on board. Lastly, we’ll talk about water and food sources. I suggest choosing organic foods and drinking distilled water. Distilled water is free from many contaminants, including pharmaceutical residues sometimes found in tap water. I’ve been using distilled water for over 45 years, and it hasn’t caused mineral loss because the body regulates its own minerals. In the weeks to come, we’ll discuss everything from common health issues to how emotions and diet impact wellness. We’ll also explore the power of thoughts, the importance of symbols, and how everything in our lives connects back to our mind and spirit. So, as we move forward, remember this: whatever is within us will show up in our lives. If there’s something in your life you want to change, let’s start examining it together. Feel free to reach out with questions. I look forward to helping you grow and find balance in mind, body, and spirit. Thank you for joining, and take care. God bless!
