When Jesus turned water into wine, He did more than perform His first recorded miracle. He revealed His divine power to transform. Using stone vessels traditionally reserved for Jewish purification rituals, Christ demonstrated that He can take what is ordinary, imperfect, or in need of cleansing and make it something extraordinary.

The Fullers Soap
Jesus Christ is the Master Fuller, who sees beyond our stains, imperfections, and brokenness to the divine potential within us. Just as a fuller cleanses and restores what seems permanently stained, the Saviour works patiently with us, refining, healing, and making us new. In this episode, we explore the beautiful symbolism of the Fuller’s Soap (Malachi 3:2) and discover that no life is too stained, no heart too broken, and no soul beyond the restoring power of Jesus Christ. He doesn’t just make us clean—He helps us become whole.

The Barley Loaves
As Thanksgiving approaches, this episode reflects on the miracle of the barley loaves and what happens when we place our limited capacity in the hands of Jesus Christ. What we bring may feel small, ordinary, or insufficient—but Christ has always been able to multiply what is willingly offered. The barley loaves remind us to be grateful not only for what we have, but for a Saviour who can make our offering more than we could ever make it on our own.

Lessons from Zacchaeus
In Luke 19, Zacchaeus teaches us something powerful about seeking Jesus: sometimes we need to run, climb, and wait.
Zacchaeus ran ahead because he wanted to see Jesus. He climbed because something stood in his way. And then he waited, trusting that Jesus would eventually pass by.
There are seasons in our own discipleship when we need to run with greater intention, climb above the things obstructing our view, and then have the spiritual patience to wait upon the Lord. And perhaps the most beautiful part of the story is that while Zacchaeus was trying to see Jesus, Jesus was already looking for him.
In this episode, we explore what Zacchaeus can teach us about effort, perspective, patience, and the remarkable truth that Jesus knows us by name.

Jesus, Grace, and the Sacred Pause
In one of the most powerful moments in the life of Jesus, He chose not to react—He paused. When a woman was brought before Him in judgment, Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground before responding.
In this episode, we explore what this moment teaches us about the emotional and spiritual intelligence of Jesus. His pause created space for wisdom, compassion, and revelation rather than reaction. We’ll discover how learning to pause can help us manage our emotions, challenge our assumptions, hear the Spirit more clearly, and respond more like Christ.

What Are You Looking At
When Jesus asked, “Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye?” He may have been teaching us more than a lesson about hypocrisy. He was also teaching us about attention. In a noisy world constantly competing for our focus, this episode explores the spiritual intelligence of choosing what deserves our attention—and what doesn’t. We can’t always control what is around us, but we can choose what we behold, what we dwell on, and ultimately what shapes our hearts.

Spiritual intelligence: The Partnership between Grace and Effort
What is the relationship between God’s grace and our effort? In this episode, we explore how spiritual intelligence grows when we stop seeing grace and effort as opposites and begin seeing them as partners. Grace gives us strength beyond our own, while effort creates the space for growth, transformation, and deeper connection with Jesus Christ. We don’t earn His grace—but through intentional effort, we learn how to receive it, trust it, and allow it to change us.

Intro to Spiritual Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is becoming remarkably good at doing the thinking, creating, searching, and even problem-solving for us. But what happens when technology makes life easier while spiritual growth still requires effort?
In this new episode of Spiritualjutsu, I explore the difference between artificial intelligence and spiritual intelligence—and why our ability to hear God, discern truth, wrestle with questions, and intentionally become more like Jesus Christ may matter more than ever in an AI-driven world.
AI can give us answers. Spiritual intelligence helps us become.

As we feed His sheep, our hearts become more like the Shepherd’s, and our connection with Him grows in ways we could never experience through words alone.

O Ye of Little Faith
Was Jesus really rebuking Peter when He said, “O thou of little faith”? What if we’ve misunderstood those words all along?
In this episode, we explore a powerful perspective: Peter didn’t lack faith—he had enough faith to step out of the boat and walk on water. His struggle wasn’t the absence of faith; it was a shift in focus. The moment Peter looked away from Christ and toward the storm, fear replaced peace.
Join me as we discover that Jesus’ invitation wasn’t to find more faith, but to realign our focus. Because faith grows strongest when our eyes remain fixed on Him, even in the middle of life’s greatest storms.

Follow Me
What does it really mean to follow Jesus Christ?
One of the greatest challenges of discipleship is that we often want clarity before commitment. We want to know the outcome, understand the path, and have our questions answered before we take the first step. Yet Christ’s invitation is different. He calls us to follow Him first, trusting that commitment often leads to clarity.

Welcome and “Why Seek Ye the Living Among the Dead”
Welcome to the very first episode of Spiritualjutsu. I’m Mike Lafrance, and I’m grateful you’re here.
Spiritualjutsu is all about learning how to better manage and strengthen our spiritual lives through a more intimate and relevant connection with Jesus Christ. Together, we’ll explore scripture, gospel principles, and practical ways to draw closer to Him in our everyday lives.
Today’s episode focuses on a powerful question found in the New Testament: “Why seek ye the living among the dead?” These words were spoken by angels at the Savior’s tomb after His resurrection. They remind us that Jesus Christ is alive. Too often, we search for hope, peace, purpose, and healing in places that cannot truly give life. The invitation of the gospel is to seek the Living Christ
