Judge Chris Morales on Mental Health Court, Second Chances & 28 Juvenile GED Graduates | Spokesman USA
What happens when a courtroom becomes a place to rebuild lives instead of just punishing them?
Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry sits down with Judge Chris Morales of Fort Bend County Court at Law No. 1, who has served on the bench for 12 years. Judge Morales shares how his court became a hub for people struggling with mental illness who kept cycling in and out of the county jail. The court connects them with doctors, medication, stable housing and job opportunities, and it has reduced repeat offenses.
He also talks about the juvenile GED program he built in Fort Bend. This year 28 young people graduated and two earned scholarships. Others went on to college, the military or trade school. As Judge Morales puts it, an education is something no one can take away from you.
Plus: why local races matter, and a reminder not to stop at the top of the ticket. Election Day is November 3.
