Ep 14 - Audacity & Bridging the Cultural Divide with Shayne Allise
In this episode I talk to Shayne Allise, a Palestinian Irish American former Grand Prix dressage rider and founder of athlete management and investment agency 3XV Sports. Shayne shares her path through multiple sports into elite dressage, describing the rider–horse partnership, the psychology of training, and how equestrian sport’s cost keeps it in an elite space. She discusses navigating sponsorship, media, and representation as a Palestinian athlete, and how audacity helped her secure opportunities despite limited support and people saying she couldn’t succeed. Shayne explains 3XV’s athlete-first, quality-over-quantity approach to brand partnerships, building long-term narrative, brand equity, and post-retirement strategy so athletes are treated as intellectual property holders and cultural voices. The conversation also covers sport’s role in representation, reducing bias, and building cultural bridges through excellence. 00:00 Welcome and Acknowledgement 00:33 Meet Shayne Elise 02:18 Shayne’s Sporting Roots 03:36 Rider and Horse Partnership06:53 Barriers in Equestrian Sport 10:03 Audacity and Opportunity 14:09 Belief and Athlete Mindset 16:56 What Is 3XV Sports 20:23 Quality Over Quantity Branding 23:26 Athletes and Cultural Bridges 26:32 Selling Culture to Sponsors 29:50 Sport and Social Cohesion 35:42 Why 3XV Is Different 39:30 Quickfire Questions 45:16 Inclusion Tip and Wrap Up 🗒️ Full Show Notes Get the full show notes for this episode (including links, resources and transcript) at https://www.inclusivesportdesign.com/podcast/ep12 🎧 More ways to watch and listen Find all the ways you can watch and listen at https://www.inclusivesportdesign.com/podcast

I hope you join me to learn from amazing people who are making inclusion happen in sport. Remember. Sport is for Every Body! 🔎Highlights 0:00 Intro 0:46 What is ISD? 4:35 Who is Michael Woods? 9:18 Why I do what I do 14:49 Goals for the ISD Podcast 15:27 Summary and next steps "...the best way I can summarize this is, is really Inclusive Sport Design is all about taking you from saying, "Yeah, anyone's welcome" to saying, "Hey, this is how we welcome everyone". And I guess that that's probably the best way to sum it up." "...the things that I really enjoyed while I was, you know, a competitive person, I wasn't an elite athlete by any stretch of the imagination. But you know, being part of the team, building those social connections with friends, being fit and healthy, all those things I think are really important…But, when I was young…I didn't really understand how important, how valuable that that really could be. And certainly I didn't have the concept that my experience wasn't the same experience as everyone else's. That came later. So I guess there's a motivation for me to ensure that what I experienced is something that is available and on offer to everyone." 🗒️Full Show Notes Get the full show notes for this episode at https://www.inclusivesportdesign.com/podcasts/ep02 (https://www.inclusivesportdesign.com/podcasts/ep02) 🎧More ways to watch and listen Find all the ways you can watch and listen at https://www.inclusivesportdesign.com/podcast (https://www.inclusivesportdesign.com/podcast) 👍Follow ISD Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/IncSportDesign) Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/incsportdesign) LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/company/12952451) YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCECVtQQFNjuGxE35K_e06Eg) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/inclusivesportdesign/message
