   Season 3 | E18 - The Church, Pt. 2

Welcome back to the Spread the Love Podcast! In this episode, hosts Jon and Ben return to the studio to dive deeper into a foundational series defining the church, its core framework, and what it truly means to be part of the body of believers. Building on previous conversations, Jon and Ben narrow their focus to examine the biblical DNA of the church. Using extensive scriptural references—including 1 Corinthians 12, Colossians 2, and James—they unpack: The Body of Christ: Exploring the unity and diversity of members within the body, where every part has a distinct and indispensable role. Core Doctrine vs. Cultural Christianity: Differentiating between essential biblical foundations (such as the Trinity and salvation through Christ alone) and varying interpretations or extra-biblical traditions. The DNA of Faith and Works: Discussing how true faith naturally produces good fruit, and evaluating the balance between grace, faith, and obedience. The Function of the Church: Breaking down the upward, inward, and outward functions of the church—ranging from worship and discipleship to evangelism and cultural engagement. Tune in for a thoughtful, scripture-anchored discussion aimed at strengthening your foundation and encouraging you to walk in biblical alignment. Season 3 | E17 - The Church

After a short hiatus, Jon and Ben are back in the studio! In this episode, the guys catch up on family life and local staycations before shifting gears to kick off an important new series. Over the next few weeks, they will be exploring the structure, theology, and cultural context of the Church. They start right at the beginning of the conversation: Matthew 16, where Jesus first introduces the word ekklēsia. Jon and Ben unpack the true meaning of the "called-out ones", breaking down why the Church is a collective body of believers rather than a physical building. They also tackle the historically contested verses surrounding Peter’s confession, examining why Jesus—not Peter—is the ultimate cornerstone and head of the Church. Later in the episode, they look at Matthew 18 to see how Jesus expands this structural context to the local congregation and discusses the practical, visual steps for handling conflict, accountability, and restoration within the body. Grab a seat, relax, and join the conversation as they align our modern cultural context with a steadfast biblical framework. Season 3 | E16 - Remaining Steadfast, Finale

In this episode of Spread the Love, co-hosts Jon and Ben conclude their multi-part series on spiritual steadfastness, turning their focus to the remaining chapters of the Book of James (Chapters 3 through 5). Episode Highlights: Taming the Tongue & Heavenly Wisdom (James 3): Jon and Ben break down how speech acts as a true litmus test of what lies in the heart, contrasting earthly, self-driven ambition with the pure, peaceable wisdom that comes from above. Humility & Spiritual Surrender (James 4): A deep dive into James 4:7–8 on submitting to God, resisting the enemy, and living in daily, sovereign dependence on God's will rather than relying on self-sufficiency. Patience, Enduring Suffering & Prayer (James 5): Reflecting on the steadfastness of Job, the hosts examine what it means to patiently endure trials and maintain persistent prayer through tough seasons. Along with their biblical study, Jon and Ben open the episode with lighter conversation about home life, sourdough pizza experiments, and personal fitness journeys. Season 3 | E15 - Remaining Steadfast, Pt. 2

DISCLAIMER: This episode ran into some technical difficulties with the video towards the end. The last quarter of the episode lost video, so we apologize for that mishap. However, the full audio is still available in its completion. Episode Summary: Hosts Jon and Ben return to the Hub 58:12 studio to continue their multi-part series on steadfastness. Transitioning from the internal trials of James 1 to the practical, daily applications of James 2, they explore what authentic, active faith looks like in modern life. From confronting cultural favoritism to examining how we treat people across all walks of life, Jon and Ben challenge listeners to move beyond "thoughts and prayers" and into tangible, sacrificial love. They unpack key scriptures on showing no partiality, loving your neighbor as yourself, and why genuine faith naturally produces meaningful action. In this episode, we discuss: Recapping steadfastness (hypomone) as active, Spirit-led endurance under pressure. James 2:1–9 and the call to reject favoritism and status-driven bias. Why loving your neighbor isn't just a suggestion, but a command from the Lord. Living out impartial love in everyday settings: at work, in our communities, and within the church. James 2:15–17 and bridging the gap between passive empathy and costly, actionable faith. Key Scripture References: James 2:1–17 Matthew 24 Whether you are navigating daily trials or seeking to re-align your heart with God's ultimate purpose, this conversation will encourage, challenge, and strengthen your walk with Christ. Season 3 | E14 - Remaining Steadfast, Pt. 1

In this episode of the Spread the Love Podcast, hosts Ben, Jon and Derick are finally together again to kick off Season 3 episode 14 with a deep, sobering dive into what it truly means to remain steadfast in our faith. Together, the hosts explore the biblical concept of Hypomonē (active, forward-leaning endurance under heavy weight) and challenge the passive mindset of modern Christianity. Grounded in scriptures from James 1 and Matthew 24, they discuss: The difference between true, fruit-bearing faith and superficial belief. How justification, sanctification, and glorification work together in the believer's life. The parables of Jesus (the ten bridesmaids, the talents, and the sower) as urgent calls to spiritual alertness and active stewardship. Rejecting the "American Dream" mindset of comfort, distraction, and retirement in favor of living a life focused on eternity and the Great Commission. Whether you are navigating daily trials or seeking to re-align your heart with God's ultimate purpose, this conversation will encourage, challenge, and strengthen your walk with Christ. Let's chat!
