Searching for a Minister of Drought
In this week's Square Raindrop podcast, Jo and I take a look at what the weather has in store for the rest of August. After a summer that's delivered plenty of heat, is there more to come, or are we settling into something cooler and more changeable?
Join us for a cup of tea as we chat about why the north and south of the UK continue to have very different weather, why many parts of southern England are still desperate for proper rain, and whether the school summer holidays really do bring wet weather every year!
Plus, we discuss my latest DIY mishap (yes... I dropped an oven on my foot), and Jo somehow manages to avoid adding another disaster to her collection.

Sunshine, Static and Super El Nino
High pressure is bringing plenty of sunshine to the UK, but it comes with a catch - a growing lack of rainfall and some chilly nights. In this episode, we explore why this settled spell isn’t as straightforward as it seems, from dry conditions impacting gardeners and farmers to the effects of easterly winds bringing blustery weather and even static electricity.
We also take a look further afield at the latest on a possible 'Super El Niño', what it is, whether the term is justified and how it could influence weather patterns around the world.
A mix of sunshine, science, and a few surprises along the way.
