October Wrap-Up: Book Reviews, New Reads & Friends to Lovers Court
We read. We judged. We added approximately 47 more books to our TBRs. And apparently, we still haven't learned our lesson.
Welcome back to Spill the Book!
This week, Stace and Jace are wrapping up October with book recommendations, reading opinions, new Book of the Month picks and a courtroom battle over one of romance's most beloved tropes.
First, Stace is sharing three books that deserve some attention:
The Wonder of One by Suzanne Redfearn — an immediate recommendation.
The Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey — the book that gave her THOUGHTS.
Kinked by Ashe Grayson — an unexpected surprise and a dark Rapunzel reimagining.
Then we're looking ahead at four new additions to the reading pile from Book of the Month:
Hollywood, Ending by John Green
You're the One That I Haunt by Katie Jung
When the Night Comes Knocking by Katherine Daniel
Reap & Sow by Charlotte B. Plumb
We've got Hollywood drama, a ghost romance, Appalachian folk horror and demon bargains. A perfectly balanced reading diet.
AND THEN WE GO TO COURT.
This week's Trope Court puts Friends to Lovers on trial.
Stace is prosecuting. Jace is defending. The charges include excessive pining, criminal levels of jealousy, unnecessary emotional suffering and two people who apparently need 400 pages to realise they're in love.
But will the jury find this trope guilty or innocent?
We need your verdict.

LET'S TALK!
Which of Stace's three books would you read first?
Are you Team Friends to Lovers or do you think this trope deserves to be locked up?
And what's your favourite Friends to Lovers book? We want the years of pining, the jealousy, the ridiculous misunderstandings and the eventual confession.

Henry Kramer: The Voice Behind Tamlin | ACOTAR, Dramatic Audio & Voice Acting
We're spilling the book with Henry Kramer!
You might recognize his voice as Tamlin in the Dramatic Audio adaptation of Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses, but there's a lot more to this voice actor than one very controversial fictional High Lord.
We chat with Henry about life as a voice actor, transitioning from the stage to the microphone, the art of bringing fictional characters to life and what goes into performing Dramatic Audio.
Then things get a little less professional.
We put Henry to the test with our Spill the Line game and hand him some original scripts written by Jace. Because apparently inviting a talented voice actor onto a podcast means we should immediately make him work.
It's a conversation full of acting insights, ACOTAR talk, unexpected performances and plenty of laughs.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What's your favourite Dramatic Audio performance, and has an audiobook narrator ever completely changed how you feel about a character?
Read it and steep. We'll bring the chaos.

Fictional Crushes, Spooky Reads & a Halloween Party Gone Wrong
It's Halloween, Spill Squad, and we've invited four fictional men to our party. What could possibly go wrong?
This week on Spill the Book, Stace and Jace are hosting Damon Torrance from Punk 57, Peeta Mellark from The Hunger Games, Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows, and Howl Pendragon from Howl's Moving Castle.
We're judging their red flags, assessing their survival skills, debating their costumes, investigating suspicious gifts, and deciding who we'd flirt with, trust with our lives, or throw out before the night is over.
We're also sharing three spooky reads: Milkteeth by Caitlin Starling, Lethal Kiss by Taylor Grothe, and The Chain House by J. H. Markert.
Expect creepy books, questionable fictional crushes, Halloween chaos, and the kind of decisions that make you grateful these people live safely between the pages.
The big question: which fictional character would you invite to your Halloween party, and who would you ban from your house forever?
