[…] The second topic is a quick look at South Africa's manufacturing production data for the month of August. The numbers overall were deeply disappointing. During the month, we had a decline of 3.1% measured month on month. That's the weakest performance we've had in more than two years. If I look year on year, production fell off by 4.3%, also a very substantial decline. And so that's telling us that we're simply struggling to gain any momentum within our manufacturing sector. And that's been the case now for a number of years. There's no doubt South Africa's manufacturing output is in structural decline. […]
