Weekly Reading for November 1 - 8: Mercury Cazimi in Scorpio
Last week kicked the shit out of a lot of us. We had a full moon in Taurus squaring Pluto, the Sun squaring Pluto, Venus opposite Chiron and Mercury squaring Mars, all in the same stretch. It poked at old wounds we thought had closed up years ago, and most of us are walking into November a little bruised. If you feel fine, that tracks too. We’re in the back half of Venus retrograde now, and the back half is so much better than the front.
The first half had Venus backing through Scorpio, a sign where she does not do well, and it dragged our deepest issues into our relationships for a long, uncomfortable look. That process composted a ton of stuff. Composting is stinky and unsightly and nobody enjoys standing next to it, but what’s left at the end is good raw material. Since the cazimi, Venus has been back in Libra, a sign she rules, where she has all her tools. So the work has shifted from breaking things down to building something out of what’s left.

Weekly Reading for October 26 - November 1: Full Moon in Taurus
This week is the first full week of the back half of Venus retrograde, and it feels like a different chapter. Venus moved back into Libra on Sunday, one of the two signs she rules, so even though she’s still retrograde, she’s working with her own tools again and conditions improve a lot. Mercury stationed retrograde in Scorpio on Saturday, which sends everyone back to the conversations they’ve been having for months about everything that came up in October. Put those together and the work shifts from tearing things open to putting things back together. It’s still painstaking, and there are still a few tense spots, but there’s finally something to do with everything that’s been unearthed, and that is a huge relief.

Weekly Reading for October 18 - 26: Sun enters Scorpio
We’re at the halfway point of Venus retrograde, and the back half of this week is where the whole thing flips over. Since October 3rd, Venus has been backing through Scorpio as the evening star, sinking lower every night and dragging us into the stuff we’d rather not look directly at, like dependency, jealousy, and the parts of intimacy that are secretly about fear or control. Venus is in its detriment in Scorpio, so the planet that wants things to feel easy and good has spent October in a sign where everything costs something. If it’s felt heavy, that’s why.
