[…] They're waiting in a dim light and they're waiting for a sign, probably holding hands. The medium is going to ask, or probably would ask, for a spirit to make itself known. And then all the people sitting around the table are going to listen for knocks. Sometimes the medium would say, give me a certain pattern of knocks. And we do similar things. We do the shave and a haircut to see if they'll answer, because that's going to give us a hint that it's a real thing and not just a random creak or something. Some others reported phenomena which included the table tilting or moving or lifting. They would talk about writing that seemed to come through the medium. […]
