A special podcast for a special anniversary!

Before I was born, my parents met and discovered that a little T3 was on the way. My father’s plan was simple. As soon as I could carry my own weight, my mother, my older brother, and I would leave the modern world behind and head into the Bob Marshall Wilderness to homestead, stepping away from the rat race and the web of falsehoods that steals our time and energy in service of hollow pursuits. Everything changed on a cold night in January, under the full moon. My grandfather called it the Moon of Purification. Before parting ways, he told my father that one day a son would be born, and that on the first Moon of Purification, my father was to bring his child with him at just four months old, honoring a sacred promise. That night, my father carried me into a place deeply loved by my grandfather, lit his pipe, and gave thanks. That night matters because it marks the moment my father stopped living a dream and began living a vision. Join me for this special episode as I share stories from my youth, intimate writings exchanged between my mother and father before my birth, and reflections on how we can turn the page on what has become the opposite of everything my father devoted his life to. Buckle up, I have some New Year’s intentions to share and some powerful opportunities to continue a journey that began forty seven years ago. Thanks to al who attended Dont forget to check out my Patreon! It fuels my podcast! https://www.patreon.com/c/trackolytes (https://www.patreon.com/c/trackolytes)

   Weekly live Show 12/28/25

Many thanks to everyone who joined me for the live stream on such a stormy night. I truly appreciate you being there. A couple of things I mentioned during the stream include an upcoming class I’ll be teaching with my friend Scott Martin in South Dakota this April. That will be going live on my website in the coming days. I also shared news about an exciting collaboration with Christopher Nyerges, where I’ll be joining him as a guest online instructor for a special four-part, eight-hour class covering many of the skills I teach. Registration details will be posted on his website in the next few days, but in the meantime, you can explore his work here: www.schoolofself-reliance.com (http://www.schoolofself-reliance.com) I’m incredibly honored to have been invited to work with Christopher, and I truly look forward to sharing both my skills and the philosophy behind them with his community. I’ll see you all next Saturday for a very special event. To help support this work and keep everything moving forward, I’ve also started a Patreon. Those who choose to join will gain access to behind-the-scenes content and other special offerings that won’t be shared anywhere else. You can find that here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/trackolytes (https://www.patreon.com/cw/trackolytes)

I love the Fall. Wisconsin I have arrived!

Each time I move forward, it gets a little easier. I’m learning to let go of what no longer serves me and hold even tighter to what truly matters. The past may carry its share of pain, but there’s nothing to do now except keep growing and becoming the best version of myself. That journey has brought me here, to Wisconsin. I’m about 45 minutes east of the twin cities, where I will be spending time helping on the land and grounding myself in this next chapter. While I’m here, I’ll be available for classes throughout the Midwest, so don’t hesitate to reach out at www.trackolytes.com (http://www.trackolytes.com). Once I’ve gathered more footage, I’ll be sharing a full podcast episode about this beautiful place and the lessons unfolding here. And I will talk about my "pay what you will" online classes during my birthday live stream so stay tuned!

   Nomad Engage!

Here we go! In just a few days, I’ll be heading south to visit Tom Elpel, author of Botany in a Day, and explore his organization. I’m hoping to sit down with him for an interview on the podcast as well. From there, the journey continues East to Wisconsin, where I’ll be checking out a new opportunity and letting intuition guide the path ahead, following the pull toward people I want to interview for both the podcast and the upcoming documentary. Along the way, I’ll continue offering my online “Pay-What-You-Will” classes, keeping the teachings accessible to all. This trip carries special meaning: since my father took his final walk, I haven’t had a place I can truly call home. Now, the road itself has become both teacher and shelter. However I am very much missing friends, and a community the "Speaks" my language Stay tuned to the podcast and the front page of my website — www.Trackolytes.com (http://www.Trackolytes.com) — for updates, stories, and ways to follow my journey. I can’t wait to travel, document, and most importantly, bring ancestral skills and deep nature teachings to you at an affordable rate — because humanity needs the old wisdom now more than ever. Stay tuned!

   The Machine Part Deux

Today is the day—Rolling Turtle and I are officially FULL NOMAD! After years of dreaming, planning, and slowly pulling the pieces together, it’s finally happening. And of course, the adventure kicked off with a classic plot twist. On my way to visit an old friend in Spokane, Rolling Turtle decided he didn’t like his clutch anymore. At first, I thought, “Uh oh, this could be bad…” but as luck (or fate) would have it, my friend just happens to be a Subaru wizard. The repair shop would’ve hit me with a $2400 bill, but instead—with two friends, some elbow grease, and under $900—Rolling Turtle is now running better than ever. My gas mileage is up, my steering is smoother, and I couldn’t feel more grateful for the way things aligned. That’s when it really hit me: even though I’ve been bouncing around for a while, today marks the moment I’ve stepped fully into this nomadic lifestyle. Not just because it’s time—but because I’m on a mission now. I’m not just traveling; I’m searching for a place I can truly call home, a spot on the map filled with people who are genuine, welcoming, and real. And here’s the exciting part: I am officially open for business. Do you want a private, affordable, high-quality nature education experience? I’m your guy. Everything I offer is on a sliding scale, because I believe everyone deserves access to the three lifetimes of wisdom I carry. Very soon, I’ll be releasing my first two classes, with more to follow as I settle into the rhythm of road life. Just know—everything I do is fueled by love, gratitude, and a deep desire to help you live your best life, connected to the natural world. This is happening. Rolling Turtle and I are on the move. Soon, I’ll be in your neck of the woods. If you are interested in hosting me, or booking a class, Contact me! (https://trackolytes.as.me/Talk-to-t3) I wanted to take a minute to give some very honorable mentions to companies whose gear allows me to operate at peak, proficiency first and foremost without power, I couldn't broadcast so many things too GoalZero (www.goalzero.com (http://www.goalzero.com)) for powering all of this. Next up many thanks to Mr. Elon Musk for making rural Internet a thing when he introduced Starlink a few years ago with my starling dish, I can have high speed Internet anywhere in the world. Last night I camping spot it was so dense with trees, but I still was able to use the Internet just fine. www.Starlink.com (http://www.Starlink.com) oh and if you do buy a Starlink unit, please use my referral code if you do that, then we will each get a free month of service! (https://www.starlink.com/residential?referral=RC-2226119-69851-67) Also, thanks to my buddy Cris for saving my butt and fixing my clutch. Peace, love, joy, and purpose beyond self, T3

The power of choice, and Zen and the Art of Subaru Maintenance.

Choices, Zen, and the Art of Subaru Maintenance Sometimes the universe has a way of nudging us exactly where we’re supposed to be. I had originally planned to leave a day earlier, stopping to visit another friend before heading on to Spokane, Washington. Looking back, if I’d taken that route, my clutch probably would’ve given out in the middle of nowhere, not exactly the kind of adventure I had in mind. Instead, running a day late led me straight to Spokane and to reconnect with the first close friend I made after moving to Oregon. Chris and I taught side by side for two years, and he remains one of the few people I can’t separate my teaching memories from. Chris is more than just an old teaching partner , he’s a caretaker at heart. In Spokane, he’s been spearheading initiatives to tackle the city’s housing crisis, working to ensure that every family has the chance at a fresh start. And on top of all that, he’s a Subaru wizard. His skills (and generosity) saved me a small fortune and gave me the chance to dive deeper into learning the art of maintaining my own rolling home. Plus, I got the ad benefit of spending extra days with a true friend.

Micro-sode: A Man and his Machine

Welcome, friends, to the very first Micro-sode! Since you already know me, I thought it only fair to introduce you to my trusty sidekick, my mini motorhome with a soul of its own, lovingly named Rolling Turtle. Rolling Turtle may look like a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek, but don’t be fooled—it has a rare five-speed manual heart and the spirit of a wandering storyteller. It took me an entire year to pare down life’s clutter so that every hat I wear, every tool I need, could fit neatly into this little rolling shell of adventure. But this isn’t just about the car—it’s about the road ahead. On the 31st, Rolling Turtle and I will be heading toward Gallatin Gateway, Montana, to visit none other than my longtime mentor and dear friend, the one and only Victor Wooten. Yes, that Victor Wooten\, the best bass player in the world. Back in February, I had the joy of witnessing him and his brothers weave two straight hours of music so breathtaking it felt like the universe itself was humming along. Four brothers, over fifty years of playing together, each a master of their craft… and when they take the stage, their instruments don’t just play—they become part of their very being. It was the most moving musical experience of my life. So in this episode, we’ll talk about that magic, about Victor’s journey, and yes… I’ll finally dare to ask him the age-old riddle: “Why can’t you walk across the log?” With peace, love, joy, and purpose, I invite you to join me. Help me spread the word about this podcast and the works I’ve been quietly preparing. The time has come to step fully into what I was always destined for, and I’m thrilled to have you along for the ride.
