طاهره که در اتاق نوکران باغ ایلخانی نگاه داشته شده بود در حال سجده و مناجات با قلبی آرام و مطمئن با خدای خود گفتگو میکرد، ناگهان در اتاق باز شد و پیشخدمتی که با وعده عزیزخان سردار به شغلی بهتر، مامور کشتن طاهره شده بود، وارد شد. طاهره که در سجده بود سر از سجده بلند کرده و نگاهی به او انداخت. پیشخدمت سر به زیر انداخت و چند قدم به عقب گذاشت و بعد از آن، پا به فرار گذاشت.

طاهره گویا میدانست چه چیزی در انتظار اوست. مانند کسی که میخواهد مسافرت کند رفتار میکرد. همه از هم<br>می پرسیدند این رفتار چیست؟ و در حین این کارها به قدری خندان بود که همه بیاختیار به گریه میافتادند.

قسمت ۱۸ - شهادت حضرت باب
بیش از یک سال بود که طاهره در خانه کلانتر اقامت داشت و از هر طرف اخبار ناگوار حوادث نیریز و زنجان و کشتار بیرحمانه اصحاب حضرت باب را میشنید. برای طاهره این ظلمها طاقتفرسا بود. از همه دلجویی میکرد گرچه خود بینهایت دلخون بود. <br>امیرکبیر به خیال این که تنها راه آرام کردن کشور و خاموش کردن این مسلک، محو و نابود کردن رهبر آنهاست، دستور قتل حضرت باب را میدهد. خبر شهادت حضرت باب، دیگر فوق طاقت اصحاب ایشان، خصوصا طاهره بود.
