Heidi Peters and Nicole Ban, members of Team Canada, will be highlighting sitting volleyball, the athletes, and discussing their experiences on and off the court. Never heard of the Paralympics? Unsure of how to discuss disability? Didn’t know our sport was played sitting on the ground? Don’t worry, we didn’t either and that’s exactly why we are doing this. 17: Let’s Learn About The Winter Paralympic Games!

<p>Today’s episode is mostly one long <a href="https://www.olympics.com/en/milano-cortina-2026/paralympic-games"><u>Winter Paralympic Games</u></a> quiz! We brought questions for each other but naturally each question sparked some discussion, so we rolled with it. We cover MICO 2026, opening ceremonies, previous Games locations, the sports, some adaptive equipment, and both past and present legendary Canadian winter para athletes. </p><p><br></p><p>You’ll see and hear us get a question wrong, laugh, be embarrassed, and still continue on..this serious yet light hearted energy is core to who we are and we believe in being in a constant state of learning. We know that the Paralympics and Paralympic movement are still new and confusing to a lot of people, including ourselves at times, so we hope to continually shed light on the learning process. </p><p><br></p><p>If there is anything you’d like us to discuss, or any guests you think we should have on, send us a DM on our socials! </p><p><br></p><p>Take a Seat Instagram: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/takeaseatcast?igsh=MTVlbnpubGxlazluYw%3D%3D&utm_source=qr"><u>@takeaseatcast</u></a></p><p>Heidi’s Instagram: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/heidipeters__?igsh=MThpMWlnZ2RjdHBkYw%3D%3D&utm_source=qr"><u>@heidipeters__</u></a></p><p>Nicole’s Instagram: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/nicoleban_?igsh=bTljYWRxMng5MG56&utm_source=qr"><u>@nicoleban_</u></a></p><p>Want to learn more about sitting volleyball? <a href="https://www.worldparavolley.org/disciplines/sitting-volleyball/"><u>Click Here</u></a> and <a href="https://www.worldparavolley.org/volleyslide/"><u>here!</u></a></p><p>Please remember to subscribe, rate, comment, and review the pod! 15: Lifelong Disability & "What is Normal?" with Katelyn Wright

<p>We finally got to sit down with our mutual close friend, 3x Paralympian, and Paris 2024 Bronze Medalist, Katelyn Wright, to discuss all things lifelong disability and gaining confidence and a voice through Paralympic sport. Katelyn explains her childhood with a chronic illness which ultimately led to her above knee amputation as a teenager, and how this impacted both her ability to be active and her mental health. We talk about the early days of finding and trying sitting volleyball, and reflect on how far we’ve come. Katelyn has a big story with lots of insight and lessons for anyone. She’s also witty as heck. We hope you enjoy this one! </p><p>As always, if there is anything you’d like us to discuss, or any guests you think we should have on, send us a DM on our socials! </p><p><br /></p><p>Take a Seat Instagram: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/takeaseatcast?igsh=MTVlbnpubGxlazluYw%3D%3D&amp;utm_source=qr" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@takeaseatcast</a></p><p>Katelyn’s Instagram: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/katelynwright__?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&amp;igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@katelynwright__</a><br />Heidi’s Instagram: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/heidipeters__?igsh=MThpMWlnZ2RjdHBkYw%3D%3D&amp;utm_source=qr" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@heidipeters__</a></p><p>Nicole’s Instagram: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/nicoleban_?igsh=bTljYWRxMng5MG56&amp;utm_source=qr" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@nicoleban_</a></p><p><br /></p><p>Want to learn more about sitting volleyball? <a href="https://www.worldparavolley.org/disciplines/sitting-volleyball/" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Click Here</a> and <a href="https://www.worldparavolley.org/volleyslide/" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here!</a></p><p><br /></p><p>References: </p><p>Nicole’s Sweater: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/projectworthyscholarship?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&amp;igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Project Worthy</a></p><p>Heidi’s Sweater: <a href="https://shop.thegistsports.com/products/midweight-unisex-hooded-sweatshirt" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Gist</a></p><p>Katelyn’s Sweater: <a href="https://brunettethelabel.com/" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Brunette The Label</a></p><p><br /></p><p>Please remember to subscribe, rate, comment on and review the pod!
