"Talking At The Diner" Podcast Ep. 61 ft. Lo-Priestess
Greetings FAYE-treon Fam!
On Ep. 61 of "Talking At The Diner" I met up with my friends Gina LC and Scott Radway of one of my very favorite Philly indie bands: Lo-Priestess! Gina and Scott are what you’d call a musical super-couple.. both are amazingly talented artists who work together in Lo-Priestess with Gina on lead vocals and Scott on keys, but they also do amazing things separately from each other. Gina fronts and plays guitar in another great long-running Philly band - the heavier, grungier Dear Forbidden, and Scott is also a solo artist, a drummer, and a very sought-after producer, who notably worked with our mutual friend Erin Fox on her latest album "Uprooting."
Back in May, Lo-Priestess recently release an absolute banger of a single called "The Faker," (https://youtu.be/5_Gz-gTRJVs?si=OelxYxV_OELkjMHJ) and Scott and Gina continue to forge a life together as a married couple, working day jobs, raising their daughter, becoming homeowners, and still following their artistic passions. Of course, this takes an incredible amount of dedication, sacrifice, communication, and planning. Very often I’ll see one of them out at an event, knowing that the other is keeping things running smoothly at home. Team work makes the dream work, as the old saying goes.
I met up with this very dynamic duo at the Club House Diner in Bensalem, way up in the far reaches of Northeast Philadelphia. This restaurant holds significance in our conversation because it is the site of their first "date" close to a decade and a half ago. It was fun to chat about their origin stories as a couple and their individual paths as musicians.

"Talking At The Diner" Podcast Ep. 60 ft. Lisa Schaffer of Vinyl Chickie
Hey Diner Buddies!
We've reached another cool milestone with the "Talking At The Diner" podcast.. we are officially 60 episodes into our mission to amplify the voices and stories of working musicians and creatives. SIXTY! That's five years of monthly conversations that have become a living document of the Philadelphia music community (and beyond).
I wanted to do something special for the 5-year anniversary of the show and I can't think of a more appropriate guest than Lisa Schaffer. Perhaps surprisingly, she is not a musician, but for the past two decades, Lisa has been a major presence and force in the scene, first as one of our most prominent music photographers, and since May of 2025, the owner and the face of Vinyl Chickie.. full name Vinyl Chickie (Record Shoppe & Other Delights).
Lisa and I met up at the Village Diner in Glenside, just a couple blocks from her record shoppe, and chatted about her NE Philly origins and her life-altering acquisition of the record collection of Pierre Robert, the late legendary WMMR DJ who, for those of us of a certain age, was the single most influential voice of our rock 'n' roll upbringings. What she was able to create, in the way that she lovingly and intentionally distributed Pierre's records to true fans on "Record Shoppe Day" (not to be confused with "Record Store Day".. you'll hear why in when you listen), is a beautiful snapshot of what she does so well.. bringing people together, connecting with and involving her extended community, and maybe ruffling a few feathers of the powers that be while she's at it!

"Talking At The Diner" Podcast Ep. 59 ft. Quentin Jones
It's hard to believe we are at Episode 59 of "Talking At The Diner" - my quest to shine a light on the stories of working musicians is like a bottomless cuppa coffee from your favorite greasy spoon. And this month's episode is another great fly-on-the-wall chat with a musician it has been a pleasure to get to know over the past couple years. Quentin Scott Jones is a member of David Uosikkinen's In The Pocket, and like many members of this collective, he has forged a long arc in his music career. Informed by his younger years growing up in his family's horse business, pivoting into car sales, then deciding to throw all his chips into playing music, Quentin's musical journey has been a fascinating one, not only with his adventures in his band The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns in the 90s/00s, but also with his current project with David Uosikkinen and Kenny Aaronson - the aptly named QDK.
QDK songs have been getting airplay on Little Steven's Underground Garage on Sirius XM and the band is already back in the studio to make more old school rock 'n' roll. Quentin been a producer, an engineer, a label owner, and a side man playing with the likes of Robert Gordon, Linda Gail Louis (sister of Jerry Lee), and Annabella Lwin from the 80s band Bow Wow Wow of "I Want Candy" fame.
We met up recently at the Neptune Diner in his hometown of Lancaster, PA where we had one helluva good hang. I know you'll enjoy our conversation - check it out!
