Podcast Overview

Every evening, I lie down with a microphone and let my thoughts spill out—stories from the day, reflections on life traveling around Australia in a van, random observations, whatever’s on my mind. No script, no editing, no performance. Just me processing my day out loud until I drift off. Some nights it’s five minutes, some nights it’s longer. Sometimes it’s coherent, sometimes it’s chaos. But it’s always unfiltered. If you’re looking for something raw and real to fall asleep to, or just curious what goes on in someone else’s head at the end of the day, you’re welcome here. @_ad8d on TikTok

Duck Eggs, Dorm Rooms, and Building Apps by the Pool

I'm in Hanoi at a hostel called Wanderlust Station, two months into my Vietnam trip, and I've finally sat down to start telling the story from the beginning. I pick up where I left off last episode - touching down in Ho Chi Minh City with zero plans - and walk through my first real destination: a little coastal fishing village called Mui Ne where I ended up staying for two weeks through Tet (Vietnamese New Year). Along the way I meet a cast of characters who become fast friends: Norwegian kindergarten teachers, a retired Canadian cop and his Vietnamese wife, a Russian short story writer, and an Italian electrician who just walked into my dorm tonight.

The highlights include getting completely overstimulated by Saigon's District 1 party scene and immediately escaping to the coast, learning about Vietnamese tones and why pho is pronounced the way it is, eating a fertilized duck egg at midnight that knocked me out for 24 hours, upgrading from a dorm with a water pump from hell to a private room with a pool view, and building a fully functional bug identification app overnight for two Norwegian teachers using my AI assistant AIMe. I tease the next chapter in Dalat, which I'm calling the real turning point of the trip.

Recorded: April 10, 2026

Seven Kilos and No Plan

I'm back. It's been months since I've recorded one of these, and I'm lying in bed at Ba Be Lake in northern Vietnam with a fan blasting and karaoke going off in the background - which, honestly, is kind of perfect. I've spent the first part of this year going through some real lows, questioning what I actually want, and eventually just booking a one-way ticket to Asia with a 23-litre backpack and no plan whatsoever.

This episode is me catching you up on what's happened since December. The workshop experiment at Mum's property that was supposed to make me happy but didn't. The anhedonia and the "I'll be happy when..." trap. Turning 35 and doing some creative math to feel better about it. The visa panic two days before my flight. And that golden-hour moment on the plane where everything just clicked. I'm calling this the start of season two, and there's a lot more Vietnam stories to come.

Recorded: April 5, 2026

Reset Day: Activated Almonds and AI Sovereignty

After the chaos of prison gigs and recording studios, today was a reset day. It's a few days before Christmas, parked in Peppermint Grove (one of Perth's most expensive suburbs), eating the world's most wholesome Woolies shop - activated almonds, spirulina powder, seaweed sheets, and tofu. The kind of shopping cart that makes checkout workers question your sanity.

But this episode goes deeper than diet. I finally talk about the thing I've been building: a "Personal Context Layer" - my answer to AI companies eventually locking us into their ecosystems. It's about data sovereignty in an AI world, owning your own context, and being able to switch between AI services without losing everything you've shared with them. I'm basically augmenting myself to be Iron Man, and this might become something bigger.

Beyond the tech stuff, I'm thinking about 2026: Thailand for Muay Thai training, another lap of Australia, or something completely different. The only thing I know for sure? No more nine-to-fives. We're done working for other people.

Recorded: December 22, 2025
