Gerald kicks things off with a childhood story that left a lasting impression, sharing a prank that genuinely frightened him and ultimately shaped his decision to steer clear of celebrating the day altogether. His story brings a surprising depth to what is often seen as a playful holiday. Kenzie follows up with her own memories, reflecting on growing up in a household where pranks were part of the fun. She recalls one unforgettable trick pulled by her mother that still stands out to this day, offering a contrast to Gerald’s experience and highlighting how differently the tradition can be lived. As the conversation unfolds, the two explore common traditions associated with April Fools’ Day, from harmless jokes to more elaborate setups, and where the line should be drawn between fun and fear. They wrap up the episode on a meaningful note, recognizing that April 1st holds an even deeper significance for Gerald — it’s also his daughter’s birthday — adding a heartfelt layer to a day often known for mischief.
