Join hosts Kareem, Ken, and Pat each week, bi-weekly or whenever there is an episode to be had. We're looking to traverse comics, pop culture, current events, movies, tv shows, and even other podcasts while attempting not to go off on too many tangents. Our goal is to examine the annoyingly nuanced grey matter in-between-the-lines in serialized episodes, so sit back, pick a pod and try to stay focused.
EP.123 - Post Decpte-Con Catch Up - A Review of Comic-Con News 2026
Kareem finally reconnects with Ken and Pat after missing their Comic‑Con panel, and the guys waste no time recapping how their talk on the downfall of billionaires in comics somehow turned into a crowd‑pleaser. Pat insists they were profound. Ken insists they were unhinged. Both are probably right. From there, the conversation swerves into the tall grass. The trio tries to figure out why Transformers actually transform, whether “Decepticons” is a name that should have been retired decades ago, and how to stitch G.I. Joe, Transformers, and the Fast and the Furious into one cinematic universe without breaking the laws of physics or taste. It is exactly the kind of episode where a simple Comic‑Con debrief becomes a dissertation on toy‑based geopolitics, automotive theology, and franchise chaos theory.Settle in. It gets weird fast.#TangentialGiants (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/tangentialgiants) #ComicCon (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/comiccon) #Transformers (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/transformers) #GIJoe (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/gijoe) #FastAndFurious (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/fastandfurious) #NerdCulture (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/nerdculture) #PopCulturePodcast (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/popculturepodcast) #GeekTalk (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/geektalk) #ComicBookLore (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/comicbooklore) #MovieUniverses (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/movieuniverses) #PodcastLife (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/podcastlife) #FandomTalk (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/fandomtalk) #ToyLore (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/toylore) #FranchiseChaos (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/franchisechaos)

EP.122 - Wait, You Know Kung Fu Too? - A Review of The State of Martial Arts Films pt.2
Kareem, Ken, Pat, and returning chaos agent JPG dive into the second half of their martial arts saga, tracing how the genre went from the clean, wide‑shot choreography of the 80s and 90s to the hyper‑edited, camera‑trick chaos that took over in the 2000s.
They unpack how The Matrix rewired Hollywood’s brain, how 9‑11 reshaped action aesthetics, and how Jackie Chan’s beautifully reckless stunt work got replaced by gunkata, tactical reloads, and enough quick cuts to make a film editor sweat. Along the way, the crew debates whether modern action is evolution or just caffeine with a budget.
If you enjoy martial arts history, pop culture detours, and a guest who refuses to stay on topic, this episode delivers.

EP.121 - Catching Bullets With His Teeth - A Review of The State of Martial Arts Films pt.1
This week on Tangential Giants, Kareem, Ken, Patrick, and guest JPG attempt the impossible: giving a straight, disciplined breakdown of the state of martial arts films today. Naturally, it goes off the rails immediately.Kareem and JPG revive their long‑running feud over who the real host of Tangential Giants is, Ken tries to keep the peace like a weary kung‑fu mentor who never asked for this, and Patrick wonders aloud how Superman ever got talked into snapping necks in the first place. From the elegance of classic martial arts choreography to the modern trend of turning every fight scene into a small‑arms convention, the crew eventually lands on Roadhouse and its staggering devotion to gunfire. They try to talk technique and philosophy, but Roadhouse keeps showing up like an uninvited bar brawler. If you like martial arts cinema, chaotic detours, and the kind of debates that only get louder when no one is winning, this episode is your dojo.#tangentialgiants (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/tangentialgiants) #martialartsmovies (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/martialartsmovies) #actioncinema (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/actioncinema) #roadhouse (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/roadhouse) #superman (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/superman) #moviepodcast (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/moviepodcast) #filmtalk (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/filmtalk) #popculturepodcast (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/popculturepodcast) #JPGvsKareem (https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/jpgvskareem)
