The historical and geopolitical causes that led to the decline of tango as a dominant genre in Argentina after 1955. It is argued that the crisis was not merely musical, but stemmed from a complex intersection between the Cold War and local socioeconomic changes. The rise of American consumerism and Russian cultural propaganda fostered the emergence of a new youth identity that rejected parental traditions in favor of rock and roll and foreign aesthetics. Domestically, the political instability of the Perón regimes and the subsequent "Revolución Libertadora" generated censorship and economic crisis, drastically reducing resources for national artistic production. At the same time, the emergence of folklore and television further fragmented the cultural market, bringing the so-called golden age to an end. Tango, remaining tied to a formal and adult aesthetic, failed to capture the new generations' need for rebellion and socialization.

Finally, the dialogue explores the sociological dimension of the milonga, reflecting on the danceability of certain songs and the commercial dynamics that influence the musical choices of modern DJs.
