[…] Okay, so there is a definite need then for Lewis County. So what specifically are you looking for if they wanted to get involved with something like this? Well, we definitely struggle with homes being available to support larger sibling groups so that the children can remain together. There's statistics out there that show that there's 53% to 80% of siblings that are separated when they enter foster care. And separating siblings is obviously very traumatic for them when they're already dealing with the trauma of being taken away from their families. There is a national statistic that shows that siblings that are separated within the first 24 hours of being brought into care, that there's only a 20% chance that they will be reunited. […]
