11. osa. Pekingi olümpiamängudel võistelnud Aveli Juursalu vahetas suusad ketaste vastu
Õhtulehe kettagolfiteemalise taskuhäälingu „Taru kallale“ 11. osa külaline on Pekingi olümpiamängudel murdmaasuusatamises võistelnud Aveli Juursalu (neiupõlvenimega Uustalu), kelle uus armastus on disc golf. Alustuseks räägime üksjagu suusajuttu, sest Aveli polnud varem kõva häälega kuulutanud, et teeb 23aastaselt murdmaaga lõpparve. Miks? Kui raske südamega too otsus langes? Ja muud asjasse puutuvad küsimused, nagu Eesti naiste koondise puudumine, lööme loomulikult letti. Kõige toredam uudis on tegelikult see, et Aveli on lapseootel ja saab talvel emaks. Aga novembris kavatseb ta veel usinasti kettaid loopida ning õnneks on Eestis piisavalt disciradu, kuhu pääseb ka beebivankirga kenasti ligi, nii et see paus ei kujune ilmselt liiga pikaks. Arvestades, et abikaasa Timo Juursalu on Eesti discgolfiliidu president, siis peaks kaardid olema igati soodsad. Aveli tutvus disc golf'iga põhikoolis ehk juba ammu, aga PDGA võistlustel on ta osalenud alates 2023. aastast. Kusjuures tema suusatreener – eelmisel suvel oli ta veel ju selle ala tippsportlane – polnud üldse vaimustuses, et Aveli mööda discivõistlusi kondab. Aga Avelil läks mullu nii hästi, et ta teenis Eesti meistrivõistluste FPO klassi kutse lausa kahelt erinevalt mõõduvõtult ning sättis treeningplaanid lõpuks selliselt, et saaks ikka Jõulumäel ära käia. Sel suvel oli lahedam, sest suusatamisega seotud kohustusi polnud. Loomulikult ei saanud jätta uurimata, kes on siis Juursalude peres kõige osavam ketaste taltsutaja, kui tihti nad koos mängimas käivad ja ega nad segapaarismängu Eesti meistrivõistlusel tülli ei pööranud.
