From Darkest Moments To Finding Purpose | Sonia Fitzgerald | Tea With My Sweet Gratitude

Pastor Tamara Gordon sits down again with Sonia Fitzgerald for season three of Tea With My Sweet Gratitude. Sonia returns after her season two episode to talk about what came after the abuse: years of depression, PTSD, anger turned inward, and the long work of getting clean and rebuilding a relationship with her three daughters. She describes growing up without protection, being harmed by people who were supposed to keep her safe, and carrying that into adulthood as a mother who was still trying to survive her own pain. She also talks about more than 30 years of recovery, the slips along the way, therapy, making amends, and what her youngest daughter taught her about love that does not have to be earned. This conversation is part of a podcast for women navigating trauma, motherhood, faith, and self-acceptance. Sonia closes with a line she wants other survivors to hear: healing starts with acceptance.Content warning: this episode discusses childhood sexual abuse, family betrayal, depression, substance use, and suicidal thoughts. It does not include instructions.
