In Episode 44 of **Tek With Josh**, I explain how an $885 trade-in offer convinced me to order the iPhone 18 Pro Max even though I had just said I was going to wait until next June. Then I break down Google’s new Googlebook laptops, including their $899-to-$1,299 starting prices, premium hardware, Android integration, Gemini features, and Google’s attempt to create a much tighter Android phone-and-laptop ecosystem.
I also take a look at Qualcomm’s new **Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6**, a 2nm flagship mobile chip with an Oryon CPU reaching 5 GHz, significantly upgraded graphics and AI capabilities, new gaming features, and increasingly serious camera and video support. Between Google making Android more desktop-like and Qualcomm continuing to give smartphones ridiculous amounts of performance, the line between mobile and traditional computers keeps getting harder to define.

Why did I order a Mac Studio when my current MacBook Pro already does everything I need?
In this episode of **Tek With Josh**, I break down why I decided to make the jump, and why the real reason has more to do with AI agents than raw computer power. I talk about my growing use of agents for editing, publishing, marketing, business tasks, analytics, and automation, along with why the ongoing cost of running those workflows in the cloud pushed me toward owning the hardware instead.
I also go into why I chose the Mac Studio Ultra configuration, what I plan to run locally with Hermes, how I want to expand my automated workflows, and why the Mac Studio will eventually take over server, video, and content-production duties too.
Did I actually need it? Probably not. But for the way my workflow is changing, owning the computing power started making more sense than continuing to rent it.
