Stolen Innocence, Teen Pregnancy, Longing for Home: Gena's Story
There are very few memories of my childhood and the ones I do have are tainted with moments of molestation and alcohol abuse. The adults in my life struggled to make positive choices for our family. Therefore, it was no surprise I ended up like the statics said I would…pregnant at 16, again at 18, and divorced by 21. But that's not where my story ends.
As the host of this show, I ask my guests every week to be vulnerable and transparent. This week I learned just how hard that is to do. I can't thank my two dearest friends, Amelia (episode 15) and Stephanie (episode 9) for walking along side of me while I sat in the hot seat today.

Failed Family Business?: Jacklin's Story
"Go into business with your family!", they say.
"It'll be fun!", they say.
And most of the time, it is, but sometimes it's not always pretty…or successful.
Jacklin's love story started with her middle school sweetheart – a classic tale of rekindled love after graduation. They were all in, ready to tackle life together, and the twist? They jumped headfirst into her father-in-law's brand-new business venture. Talk about excitement!
Thanks to the Great Recession of 2008 they found themselves in a financial funk. And that was just the opening act. During their second decade of business is when things really got ugly and hard decisions had to be made.
In our chat, Jacklin didn't sugarcoat it, saying, "Most marriages wouldn't have survived this." Frankly, I couldn't agree more. It takes a special kind of grit to weather such storms, and most people would've thrown in the towel years earlier.
And if that wasn't enough, crippling anxiety and the heart-wrenching loss of several family members continued to darken their doorstep. You'd think that's a recipe for disaster, right?
