My guest today, Kitty Brown is a published author and co-director of the Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival but her ability to share stories reaches beyond the conventional. Kitty Brown (Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe, Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Kahungunu)has b een described as a creative shapeshifter and cultural story teller and her impact here in Otepoti on arts, culture and community ranges from leadership, to literature, to urban landscapes and legacy. Kelly is a lifelong performer and creator. She works throughout Aotearoa as an actor, vocalist, writer, comedian, and educator. Her business, The Voice Lab nz, provides vocal coaching and vocal health support for hundreds of clients and is based here in Ōtepoti. She won the Otago Raw Comedy Championship in 2024, and just a few weeks ago, she took home a Dunedin Theatre Award for Outsanding Performance. Kelly recently performed a highly successful one woman show at Dunedin Fringe called Lady Luck which explores the experience from a fictional character’s point of view of an American landing in Dunedin but she’s here with us today at OAR FM to over think and over share the real life version of events.
